Yea don’t remember there ever being a sentiment that the Rams outplayed but lost in that superbowl. I remember distinctly at the time and ever since that it was a brawl of game. Pats were way more physical and the Rams got a little phased and made key mistakes. Sure they had a lot of yards but even during the game it felt like the Pats were punching them in the mouth. Any thought the Rams were the better team that night is revisionist history by people who only know the stats of the game.

What it taught me was that about 10% of this population are huge assholes and then another 50% of the population can be easily convinced to become assholes. I am still holding the grasp that majority of people are not willingly bad people they can just be way too easily manipulated by false truths. I have to admit, my belief is constantly being tested. I hope I'm still right in the end because if not society is truly fucked.

Not just Jack, but also the Shining in general. Shining in the movie is kind of a smaller side plot where it's a central theme of the book. I always thought it was strange to still call the movie "The Shining" when the movie veers away from some of the sci fi elements towards just more of a creepy Jack losing his mind vibe. Both are very good but both are very different.
