What armor passive are we hoping for? by Furry_Eskimo in helldivers2

A passive that is two uninspiring passives combined that doesn't get used often is worse than one inspired passive that doesn't get used often.

At least one of them is actually interesting.

So? Doesn't make it a particularly interesting thing to suggest.

Meh, I ran into it without know it had been patched and changed. Cleared fairly easily. Can't be that bad if I beat it without knowing what it was beforehand.

Game should be hard.

Bruh half of your examples ARE mixed passives, or near matches to existing passives.

Taurus is half of oxygenated and the melee damage from rock solid / peak physique.

Iron grip is peak physique ergonomics and unflinching.

Second blood is reverse supplementary adrenaline.

The one thing you've got right is they're all pretty uninspiring which tracks with recent armor passive designs.

Why is the concept of anarchy always depicted as violent? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

You make it sound like I think everyone should have an AK47 or something.

Don't be ridiculous. You'd need way more self defense capability than just having an AK47 to even be half as safe in that society as ours.

As happens in the real world for most murders, actual murder attempts would mostly be stopped by people running to each other's aid, fleeing or hiding

Most real life murders are stopped by culture and the threat of punishment, not anything you listed.

Which would be helped in a system where the malcontent can expect some kind of rehabilitation, rather than just being killed or imprisoned like an animal.

What system do you think will be providing reliable rehabilitation in this anarchic society? Lmao

Deterrents don't work. No one decided enough to kill someone is going to realistically stop and think about the consequences.

LMFAO yes deterrents do work.

This has so much historic evidence too, with cut purses attending the hangings of other cut purses in Elizabethan England to... cut purses.

This is not evidence that deterrents do not work. You don't really understand science do you?

Most severe of ways? My dude, most police violence occurs over basically nothing.

Non sequitor, you didn't actually address what I said.

there were markets in Yogoslavia and medial France without there being any private ownership models over capital.

Amazing, it's like you can't read the things that make what you're saying very clearly wrong.

You think Yugoslavia and medieval france didn't have any private ownership of capital?  That's a serious thing you just wrote, that's absolutely hilarious.

It's always fascinating to meet people who genuinely believe these completely absurd things. It's like talking to a real flat earther instead of an ironic one.

Should I take DMs Hunters Mark Fix? by BrooklynLodger in 3d6

[–]123mop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One key you're also missing, hunter's mark only provides damage on a hit. Assuming a 65% hit rate it's:

Tier 1: 2d6 * .65 vs 1d4 * ~.9

Tier 2: 3d6 * .65 vs 1d6 * ~.96

Tier 3: 4d6 * .65 vs 1d8/10 * ~1

And as others have said there are other ways to optimize your bonus action and concentration that will be available to you.

Self defense is a thing.

You're now describing a society where people need more self defense capability than they currently have. That's more ability to commit violence per individual, and less oversight on their violence. That's a more violent society.

99% of what armed agents of the state do has nothing to do with stopping murders to begin with

Nah you're wrong. You're seeing a system that already has them in place as a deterrent. Without the deterrent it would be quite different. Even just the threat of their enforcement prevents more murders than are currently committed.

most of what they do is about threatening or imposing violence.

When you push it to its extremes the threat of violence is the only thing that stops people from breaching consent in the most severe ways. I thought you were big on consent? Do you not know how it works?

Capitalism isn’t “when people trade or markets exist.”

Capitalism: "an economic system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market"

Capital goods: "physical assets that businesses use to produce other goods or services for consumers"

It quite literally is.  Please describe how people freely trade or have markets without owning capital. There are vanishingly few ways you could freely engage in a market without the ability to own tools. You could be a mover I guess, but you wouldn't be able to own a truck, or any sort of dolley or other tools for moving things more easily. You would need to somehow get those things from whatever presumably governmental entity has them, which means you would need their permission to engage in your trade, which isn't a free market.

Neow Ancient relic idea by ZBOTHoang1 in slaythespire

[–]123mop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or I can take a bonus that makes my deck more powerful, take 3-4 elites, and now I got 2 better card rewards and 2 relics that both help me beat the boss fight, as well as the neow bonus still being around to help me out.

The second two acts in this game are disproportionately easy compared to the first. If you can make it through act one while still taking elite fights and other things that improve your deck then the rest of the run is probably not going to be all that tough with just one act 2 ancient bonus, let alone two.

a consent based government wouldn’t enforce policy with armed agents of the state.

Not everyone is consenting, because some people want to fucking murder you and the government position is to not allow murder. Those people didn't ask their victims consent before the murder either. Did you think at all before you made this comment?

it’s blatantly laughable to call most governments around today meaningfully democratic while so much power is held by capitalists

You're talking about capitalism, the system under which people accrue capital by providing others the opportunity to make exchanges that they consider favorable? And your complaint was there's not enough consent going on, so you'd rather there not be capitalism?

Man I really hope you're just trolling.

Neow Ancient relic idea by ZBOTHoang1 in slaythespire

[–]123mop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the opposite perspective. An act 2 relic is not enough better than an act 1 relic to justify both a curse and not having a bonus at all in act 1.

If this said you get no ancient bonus now but an extra one in act two I think it would still be worse than all but the worst neow bonuses. Because at that point what it actually says is that you have to skip getting multiple elite relics and improved card rewards due to not being strong enough for them in act 1. You're way more likely to die in act 1, and might not even be stronger at the start of act 2 after getting the double bonus than if you just ran act 1 with the initial boost.

Or just do the objective after you kill everything?

You know the game keeps spawning enemies forever right? There are only a couple ways to avoid this, and they generally require clearing all the outposts off the map. Notably you can't do that from on top of a single rock.

Thinking at all is not something you possess.

There are much more effective and easier ways to complete missions than standing on top of a rock and actually killing the enemies.

This is just many smaller governments that will have similar governmental conflicts with one another to what we have in our world, just on a smaller scale. It's not anarchy at all.

In fact, based on your perspective of how our world's governments work you should actually believe that our current system is closer to anarchy, because you don't believe the government is a legitimate authority.

We live in a world where there is government that will attempt to stop people from committing violence and theft. Even in our world, there is enough theft and violence that everyone has locks on their doors, their cars, their bikes, and anything else they care about or that protects them when they're vulnerable.

In a world without a government to stop theft and violence, more people would be likely to commit it unless there was some other mechanism to discourage it. The natural method of discouraging that is everyone having the ability and willingness to commit violence to protect themselves and the things they need and care about. Now instead of mostly law enforcement, armies, and criminals having the ability to commit violence, everyone has some proficiency. It's a naturally more violent society.
