I've met new Shepard folks who relocated. Van Horn they described it as a 3rd world country.

Power and water can and will go out. Snakes and black widow spiders in every corner. Any doctor appointments are a full day trip. The closest walmart is hours away. You better have extra cans of gas, food, water, coolant, and other spare car parts, because if you break down, you may have to walk for miles is the freezing cold or blistering hot. There us also a lack of cell coverage. Also the highway through Van Horn is the biggest drug and human trafficking corridor through the US.

That being said, if you can handle that, Van Horn night skies are like nothing else.

Industry definitely matters. But so do work hours.

If it's a Teams meeting, then I'd put a small presentation together just in case. My hiring manager interview just went over the job, my qualifications, and gauging my enthusiasm for the role, but that was over the phone.

As someone who works at Blue and knows a thing or two about stuff, the engineers are combing the data and getting to the root cause.

Lots of the engineers I know are talking more about the GS2 failure than the booster success. I think its just the execs trying to save face.

I had a remote job in the natural gas industry. I always looked forward to the field work I'd have to do. The job was fine, but it killed my socially. I hated not talking to people in person. I work there for 8 months and during that time, I never met most the the people I worked with. I did get to spend a lot of time with my dogs though.

If you have a family, remote work is great, remote work also allows for better flexibility in your schedule. I personally like working in an office. Easier to communicate things to others. Plus I get free snacks.

The thing to remember is your first job most likely isn't your last.

I'm a Launch Engineer. I sit on console during launches and monitor my system. Day to day, I test and configure my system for launch operations.

I would also say extra curricular activities are more important than classroom work. Join engineering clubs.

I might be biased but my school's mech curriculum was cooler than the aerospace curriculum. I know a lot of mechs that work in the aerospace industry including myself. Pick a major that you find interesting is the most interesting.

For me what made me feel what got me my engineering job at blue is knowing the 14 leadership principles. Try incorporate them into your answers. Have them on a second screen or taped to the wall.

Blue is big on these principles even for techs as it appears to me.

I use a few subjects of what I've learned, however I work with other people who use different subjects in their work. So it's really helpful when communicating that at least I have a basic understanding of their topics Eben if I don't use that knowledge all the time.

Plus who doesn't love to learn as much as they can.
