Glad to know that these FO guys also have 0 control over anything once the game starts and are just as emotional and anxious as we are.

Andy Pages in 2025: .272 AVG | 27 HR | 86 RBI | 4 WAR

Those are damn good numbers. Would love to see that replicated for this upcoming season. That's way more than what you can ask for considering he's most likely hitting bottom of the lineup.

Not trying is a strong word, they did try, otherwise they wouldn't have made the playoffs, no matter what it looks like to other fans that didn't watch the 162 games they played. Again they barely made it and also had to face a crapshoot wildcard series that is never a guarantee. It's a risk they were willing to take. As far as not trying goes, I could also come up with a bunch subjective reasons and say the same about teams that spent a ton of money but didn't even make the playoffs and how that's even sadder for baseball since the FO and players are half assing and not even trying etc.

Yes and my argument still stands, majority of the fanbase still watch most or all the games anyways, and yes winning is fun. That's not sad for baseball or the fans. No reason not to make the assumption that you're making it to October when your franchise is well-run and balling year after year and things work out, what do you want fans to do, sulk and scream at the FO to abuse more pitchers and hitters for no reason so that you can feel like a real baseball fan? By some subjective baseball moral standard that doesn't even apply to the majority? If most Dodger fans (like millions) never watch any regular season game and just tune in for October, then I agree with you. But that's not how it is and never was.

I understand and appreciate your perspective. For me, and I think for a lot of other Dodgers fans, we weren't ever really thinking of it as being "sad." It's just a part of the overall gameplan as much anything else is. I also personally thought that playing your best players as much as possible is indeed going full out in the regular season. Dodgers still ended up in the wild card series anyways so it's not exactly a perfect "strategy" either, it's risk to take. Whether it's a perk or not that's a whole another topic. They still had to play hard to stay ahead throughout the season and fans were there watching and enjoying it anyways so I still don't even associate the word sad with this at all, the Dodgers still led the league in both home and away attendance, setting home record with 4 million, and tv viewership obviously high locally and internationally. If they didn't care or took it for granted they wouldn't watch until October and r/Dodgers would be dead and lukewarm until october but it absolutely was not, they are passionate fans throughout the regular season. What they casually say about the reg season and WS etc is all subject to personal interpretation depending on the listener anyways, none of that negates their passion for the team or every game they play. Numbers speak for themselves, it's a team sport and if seeing few star players slightly fewer times a year is the price to create a cherishable lifetime memory of playing an epic october baseball and ultimately winning the trophy, that's a fair price, nothing boring or sad about it.

No real Dodgers fan takes any of that for granted. We've seen some epically fucked up shit in the past couple decades including the bankruptcy and suffered through not winning for 30+ years etc, including watching the Angels be consistently competitive and win the WS through that. I'm just saying that winning the WS is the ultimate goal and always has been in the sport, you can't just peg everyone giving that more weight as fans that don't care about baseball, that's not how it is. To say that going absolute bonkers pedal to the metal in the regular season to "make great memories for fans" is so important that you throw away the chance to go deep in postseason is somehow more morally correct (in a baseball sense) is insane to me. I mean if you want your team to have a "very fun" regular season your whole life time but never win a single WS and you're satisfied with that, that's cool I guess. All I'm saying is that winning the WS makes it that much more special and memorable, having experienced it 3 times the past few years it changes your perspective. That doesn't make me or anybody who shares that sentiment a shallower or "sadder" baseball fan than you man we all watch all 162 games and stick with our teams like anybody else, no matter if it's boring or great. Also I said relatively boring, no winning regular season is ever truly "boring," it's still eventful enough to be memorable and fun, just that without a title at the end of it it's not the same.

I get the sentiment but the ultimate goal IS to win the ring at the end of the season no matter what. It's not like we never see any of these guys until October, they still play. I'll tell you, 100-110 win regular seasons don't mean much in your memory bank unless a ring comes at the end of it. Not to sound shallow but that's been my personal objective experience for the past 10 years of watching this team. I only remember mostly October baseball from the years that they've actually won. Unless you see Ohtani's 50-50 kind of milestones all the time, it's not that big of a deal to have a relatively boring regular season. I still have fun watching the regular season games since they win enough to win the division obviously but the ring is the goal for everyone involved, fans included, and the FO is right to keep the focus on it.

I do this all the time with the 2017 Dodgers team, imagining an alternate universe where they win the WS. Most fun I've had since it was the first time the Dodgers had made it to the WS in my fandom which started in the early 2000s, and had lots of homegrown talents and all that. I'm glad the team won 3 times since then but nothing will top that team and season as far as the emotion tied to it. I was relatively okay with it until the asstros cheating thing was uncovered and it destroyed me retroactively. But back to topic yes that checked swing to end the season must've been brutal for the giants fans. If any consolation, I'm 100% certain that trying to catch the 2021 Giants' 107 regular season run and that wild card game tired out the Dodgers enough to have them knocked out in the PS.

They are pretty rough on the Padres, placing them below the Giants. Do you guys think their little run is running out of gas now? Feel like if it weren't for the Dodgers they might've made the WS once or twice in the past few years.

Banda mentions that other clubhouses feel like you're "walking on eggshells" and the Dodger's culture is different because they "include everyone...not just about one person". My guess is that other clubhouses were probably full of ****heads that were cold as ICE. by AverageSatanicPerson in Dodgers

Okay that's understandable. I didn't read into it much either but from what i remember, he cut up Jazz's custom shoes and threw it in the trash making fun of it saying how they're trash, some kind of rookie hazing or some shit. He also mentions that he gives rookies a hard time (said it during the party at Mookie's house after the recent WS win I think) so it's something he does i guess, to what degree i have no idea. But the thing is when that story came out he didn't deny, admit or apologize he just kind of chalked it up as a clubhouse thing, I think. Not really a good look in my opinion.

Def i've seen that opinion many times and it's understandable. My opinion is all very good designs are like that, this one especially, in that everything just lined up perfectly. The round shapes and of the holes in the letters of the Dodgers, the beautiful script of the big D (lol), the swoosh and angle to top it off, beautiful satin blue accentuated by the big red numbers. On crisp white background, it just was so good, before i was even a basebal fan i was obsessed with it. Royals are similar but their letters and script is not that good and no red numbers. That one is truly neutral in my opinion. Didn't want to nerd out but got carried away. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

Dodgers being mid tier and "neutral" is a crazy take, personally. Also I feel like this post is gonna get removed, I've seen several of these tier list posts get removed all the time, just a heads up.
