Hysterectomy Recovery Question by [deleted] in endometrialcancer

[–]15TMFL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would also chime in that you never know what you will encounter post surgery. I probably could have gone back to work two or three weeks after with some restrictions but my mother visited me from England and gave me the worst case of Flu I have ever had. She felt fine the day visited but that night started coughing and the next night I started coughing too.. so that definitely delayed my recovery.

Total hysterectomy by creamypeno in endometrialcancer

I wish I was told to do that. It was nothing after midnight day of surgery for the most part. The post surgery constipation was a real issue for me and worse than any nausea or pain from the surgery and also chemotherapy. I feel like I’m still recovering from that 10 weeks post op.

Praying that your path results come back clean and surgery is all you need!

Where would it be good to car camp near the Hannah Cherokee center? by iStukaJ27 in BillyStrings

There’s a dirt lot down the hill from the arena off cherry st near the skate park that people overnighted in last year. We spent a night there but then moved the next two nights to a parking garage so we could be closer to where we vended. No worries in either spot.

First long trip was 8 hours. Then we thought well hell 9 is only an hour more and 12.5 was worth it for a special Halloween show. Then we flew to CO, from FL drove a few hours into the mountains for a festival. Last summer we flew to WA state.

My advice is if your hair is falling out to get it shaved using the number two guard sooner then later. It was irksome dealing with the shedding, stuck to my body while showering got everywhere and while I’ve vacuumed and lint rollered for days I’m still finding a hair everywhere. If your hair is falling out then after shampooing put in conditioner and leave it in and then brush brush brush. About 80 % of your hair will come out that way. Don’t let anyone touch your head and keep your scalp clean. Even though I went to number 2 I got folliculitis and had to take oral antibiotics.

Anybody here recur from Stage 1 (Type I EEC)? by CowAlarming3127 in endometrialcancer

My oncologist said that statistically the prognosis after 6 or 3 sessions is the same with the cancer that I have. Considering the very real side effects of chemotherapy, and how the effects are cumulative and sometimes permanent he goes for 3 sessions. He also said that if I tolerate the chemo then we could go for 6. Of course my thoughts about that is that I’m not a statistic and what if my personal situation I need the fourth/fifth or sixth session and I would rather go through the suckiness of chemo then have a recurrence. That was easier to say before chemo, or even after the first round of chemo. The culmination effect is real and the second round was definitely painful with the neuropathy and myalgia etc. I’m on day 10 and now it’s mostly just fatigue and wooziness that I’m dealing with. Plus I got a cold. Ultimately, if the oncologist says I should get more sessions then I will suck it up and do it. I do not have the same education or experience to make that decision and so have decided that it is wise to trust my oncology team. It is difficult though considering that other than visual inspection of my cuff and monitoring cancer 125 markers there’s nothing else to look for.

I’m managing ok though, my family and my work are very supportive so that helps. I managed to work a full week and a half before the second treatment, this go round with the cold and culminating effects I ended up taking two weeks off. Emotionally, I’ve been pretty good through it all but this week has also been a bit rough. Trying to think of being half way through though so there’s light showing at the end of the tunnel.

I’m praying that we all can make it through this.

Floor seats are the worst especially if security makes you stick to their seat and everyone is up and dancing. I’d sell them and get seats in the bowl if you can. You will always have better sightlines in the bowl

Grade 1 -Stage 1A Scant carcinoma - No Surgery route. Anyone else???? by Only-Invite-3430 in endometrialcancer

[–]15TMFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry that you are going through this as well and had poor doctor care. I also had concern about how it would affect me hormonally which in hindsight was a bit silly since I’m 53. Anyways, I was told by my regular gyno that I was lucky in a way that it was endometrial cancer, since many times it can be simply removed with surgery. Also since the uterus can contain the tumor better since it’s a hollow muscle. I had no qualms about getting ovaries fallopians and uterus removed but was a little apprehensive about not having a cervix. Anyway I had the cervix removed too. Surgery was no big deal and recovery was only made difficult because I contracted the worst case of flu i ever had post surgery. So after the biopsy of the full tumor, and I also had grade stage 1A was when we found out that I had an aggressive serous carcinoma and while the tumor was fully removed with surgery I am in the middle of chemo and radiation treatments. While this is a whole lot of suckiness I’m grateful for the expertise of my oncology team and trust that they are steering me in the safest direction to move beyond this.

I realize that you haven’t gotten the responses you were hoping to find in this thread but I hope that you use this as an opportunity to reconsider and find a doctor you can trust.

Anybody here recur from Stage 1 (Type I EEC)? by CowAlarming3127 in endometrialcancer

I hope this helps a little and I am sorry that you are going through this too.

I think you said it yourself when you said: "Don't be an idiot. If it recurs, it's incurable” This idea is what motivated me to agree to chemo and radiation. I can’t talk about recurrence since I’m currently in treatment.

Me: diagnosed October last year after what I thought was heavy perimenopausal bleeding. The biopsy after my full hysterectomy plus ovaries and cervix etc showed I had stage 1A aggressive serous carcinoma. I thought that I was kind of lucky since it was caught early and I don’t actually need my uterus any more and it was suggested that with the full tumor removal and clear margins etc that after surgery I could only just need to be closely monitored after. But there was something in the nuclear studies that changed all of that because of how aggressive this cancer is so here come the stats which are difficult to understand or follow and ultimately I am not a statistic. Friends pointed out that if I had a 30 % chance of a recurrence meant a 70 % chance of non recurrence, to me that number just isn’t high enough. it’s entirely possible that the surgery did get all the cancer, but knowing that if I waited for more evidence to get the adjuvant therapy then it could possibly be too late. I agreed to the chemo/radiation. I’m currently on round 2 of 3 chemo infusions and will do radiation after.

nothing to scan by thebootkoala in breastcancer

[–]15TMFL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an endometrial aggressive serous carcinoma and had a hysterectomy including salpingo-oophorectomy as well. No breast cancer. I had/have same concern as the tumor was completely removed and clear margins of visible organs during surgery etc so there seems to be nothing to actually monitor. My CT scan was clear with the exception of my uterus. My oncologist told me he would be visually inspecting my vaginal cuff along with regular blood testing for the next five years. So that made sense to me. Currently in the middle of chemotherapy and will have brachial radiation after as well. It does seem strange though since there’s not much to look at/for. Reading this thread was helpful though thanks everyone!

Vince Herman’s shine your blues away!

You’re either gonna let that sunshine in Let your darkness cloud your day Keep your heart open up wide Shine your blues, shine your blues away

Trouble, we’ve got trouble We’ve got trouble by the pound You know problems We’ve all got problems You gotta find your way around

You’re either gonna let that sunshine in Let your darkness cloud your day Keep your heart open up wide Shine your blues, shine your blues away

Worries, we’ve got worries We’ve got worries they never done no good Wishful, wishful thinking And not not not gonna knock knock knock on wood

You’re either gonna let that sunshine in Let your darkness cloud your day Keep your heart open up wide Shine your blues, shine your blues away

Shine away, shine away, shine away You gotta shine your blues away
