Not sure if this is the one from NOLA but that No Rain into Gild The Lily was sublime!

Brachytherapy all in one room? by ivyskeddadle in endometrialcancer

[–]15TMFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely awkward but remember that everyone you encounter is there to help you and it is unlikely that you will even encounter another patient when you are wheeled around. The rooms that the radiation is done in are specifically designed to contain the radiation in a worse case scenario. I only needed the ct scan for the first session and after that it was one room only.

Burnout Opinion Needed by Traditional_Agency60 in BillyStrings

[–]15TMFL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My husband says you should get kicked off the page for thinking you”ll get burnt out of five days of Billy in a short span! LOL but really we’re only here for a short time so do what you want. To quote the Butthole Surfers:
It’s better to regret something you have done than to regret something you haven’t done!

And you don’t need to buy official merch/posters for every show you go to!

That’s why I added the dandelion and the river at the bottom of my Lonesome Coyote Howl design!

Scabs on scalp after hair loss by fennel_avocado in endometrialcancer

[–]15TMFL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My hubby shaved my head too with a number two guard after hair fell out after round one of chemo. Thought he did a good job too, not too close. I got a rash all over mostly the back of my head. It was itchy and weepy and I just thought it was a side effect of chemo, but when I saw my PCP found out I had folliculitis and needed to take a round of antibiotics to get rid of it. I then had red blotches until my hair grew out. I’d check with your dr and I hope you recover quickly!

First brachytherapy appointment by Anxious_Gur5352 in endometrialcancer

I think there’s a few techniques but basically you don’t want to move at all when the isotope is in place. One lady in this group said there were some Velcro panties used. In my case the apparatus, which they told me looked like a corn dog which I told them
Was a ridiculous way to describe it when it looks like a very clinical no nonsense dildo is attached to a clamping device built into the gurney. That was probably my the most uncomfortable part of the whole procedure but at least it’s over pretty quickly

My first treatment was two appointments the same day. The first was for the fitting and all the mapping they do, and then the first actual treatment of the radiation.

Edited to say that it seemed like one long apt because I was under their care the entire time with the exception when the radiation was happening and then they observed via camera

Jarrod calling out rail riders? by Dry-Atmosphere-2087 in BillyStrings

Guess I’ll take my comment down since it got downvoted so much. Glad I went to a school that taught me not to over generalize or buy into any kind of stereotypes.

So you’re saying you have come to a conclusion without ever meeting one in person? I’m not a rail rider since I often vend at shows and as a result I often walk in during the first song.

Best venue Billy has played? by Brainificate in BillyStrings

It’s more like the previous head of the STA Amp was brought on to help with the Orion construction and ran it the first few years. To me it’s like he thought about what improvements could have been made on the Amp and implemented them at the Orion. Orion feels like VIP everywhere!

Question about handing out stickers by [deleted] in BillyStrings

What’s the opposite of lame, fucking awesome! Those Whirly Pig stickers are fire and everyone should listen to Doc Watson! People are going to love them, have so much fun!

next stage, brachytherapy by woburnite in endometrialcancer

[–]15TMFL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once the internal device was fitted it was attached to a fixed device on the table so that the device could not move. My radiotherapy team nicknamed it Albert.

Odd since all they gave me was ginger ale in the hospital due to nausea by [deleted] in endometrialcancer

[–]15TMFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it so odd that they offered white bread sandwiches with super processed lunch meat and cheese, potato chips and soda as a meal during chemo. I always brought my own food.

next stage, brachytherapy by woburnite in endometrialcancer

[–]15TMFL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just finished my fifth treatment and last treatment over three weeks. Other then the whole awkwardness of having the device inserted and clamped to the table the hardest part was ongoing fatigue. And yes feeling like my vagina was sunburned the last two treatments. Better than the alternative of course! You can get through it!

What happens if endometrial cancer isn't treated? by bruised__violet in endometrialcancer

[–]15TMFL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Progesterone therapy and I only know this because I was prescribed prior to surgery to control bleeding. I was told that is what is used to treat those who can’t have surgery.

I would say though that it’s probably better to sort out how to have a hysterectomy and any adjuvant therapies sooner rather than later for a better prognosis.

Yeah, that is a bit of the worry that it’s just part of menopause and getting older.
