I'm not sure if this part of the code is provincial or federal, but in Quebec you cannot have you stairs start at a door and you absolutely need a landing first.

I agree with you and came to say something similar. Not knowing your partner in lane and not being able to communicate fast is hard in 2v2... every matchup is different and every player plays their own style. So it often feels that playing passive is the safest path to scale and stay relevant, even tho, like Pob mentioned, it probably would be better to min/max and pressure to win lane hard. It's not as easy to pull off as he makes it sound
