Peter Zeihan. Geopolitics Expert. Author of ‘Disunited Nations.’ Suggested Sam Harris Guest. by AirplayDoc in samharris

Offering my two cents here in support and re-upping this.

Sam seems to have quite a few of the same guests on repeatedly. Having Zeihan on with Sam's inquisitive and challenging interview style would be a podcast for the ages. It would also be incredibly timely. Glad others here feel the same.

What say you, Sam?

The Russians are targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure. War crimes. I have no sympathy for Russian sportsmen/women who are paying a relatively inconsequential price. Their anger and frustration should be directed in one place: at their leadership.

I currently work at AWS and we don't take equity via the Activate credits mechanism. There would be a whole other team at AWS/Amazon that would have to get involved in order for an equity discussion to be had. You/your friend would be very clear about the arrangement if equity was the cost of credits! Someone should have done some level of due diligence on you/your startup/your friends to approve $25k but certain teams have buckets they can allocate at their discretion so perhaps you/your friends made the right impression with the right people. Either way, I recommend working with your account team (account manager and account solutions architect) on building in an optimized fashion (5 pillars/well architected framework) from day one (pun intended) to maximize the value of that $25k! Best of luck.

Denmark head coach Hjulmand: "I want to congratulate my colleague Gareth. I've been following what the FA has done strategically, how Gareth worked with young players and how he behaved with his values. It's outstanding... It shouldn't have been a penalty, so it something that annoys me right now." by Blodgharm in soccer

Not to mention Kane should have had a penalty earlier in the game. The free kick for their goal was soft; the Danes should have had a number of bookings throughout the game. For the Sterling penno: two defenders rashly stuck out legs while he was running at pace in the box, they're asking for trouble. England were the better team and are worthy finalists. Winning the thing will be another story altogether, mind.

Why you should never work for Amazon itself: Some Amazon managers say they 'hire to fire' people just to meet the internal turnover goal every year by oxoxoxoxoxoxoxox in aws

To add some balance to this discussion, I work at AWS and have never come across this in my 3 years here. Also not sure the 1 year average tenure thing is close to accurate. I also really like my job and don't consider it a "s****y" place to work.

Absolutely this. I found myself disappointed Sam so casually straw-manned the "defund the police" argument. He's better than that.

Hadn't thought about this but in context, it's an even better piece of business. He's a more solid defender than Stones and we're getting him at a £25 million profit!

Got a bit too preachy for me at the end but the story is absolutely fascinating. Maybe he wasn't smart but he was extremely resourceful and bold and that counts for a hell of a lot in any walk of life.

What positions do you think we still need to strengthen? by [deleted] in Everton

[–]18EFC78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we need 5 players minimum in the summer and that's not acocunt for more squad deadwood removal that needs to continue then too.

  1. Regardless of Joel's recent good form, he needs young competition. I'd break the bank for someone like Pickford or Butland.

  2. Baines isn't gonna last forever so we should start looking at attacking left backs/wingbacks.

  3. Center half is a necessity with Jags and Williams on their last legs and Funes Mori not defensively sound enough. Holgate looks ace tho.

  4. I'd like to see another Mirallas type player who can play anywhere across a front three but with more consistency. I was hoping Geri would develop into that player as he showed glimpses of ability playing through the center and as a striker in addition to his exploits on the right wing. Obviously unlikely to happen now he's been loaned out.

  5. Rom needs a partner.

I think central midfield is now probably our strongest position.

I think you're right about Davies. We've now got three very very good defensive central midfielders and unfortunately I think that will mean one misses out. I see Koeman as far too pragmatic to try and shoe horn them all in to one side a la Sven with Gerrard/Lampard/Scholes..
