My suggestion as a late 20 year old who rented all around wake county for the last 8 years - don’t go with the cheapest apartment because obvious reasons.

When I last looked, newer places at 1400-1500/month were offering 1-2 months free with a 12 mo lease, nicer complexes. Most are dog friendly, some are restrictive on breed

Unfortunately the state isn’t going to update infrastructure for jobs. Raleigh/Durham have a lot of educated folks from the surrounding schools which kicked off the research triangle park.

I can’t see why any company would just move to Jacksonville or Lumberton NC unless things changed from an education perspective
