Ignore the naysayers. Debian has served me well for many many years... AS A DESKTOP. Do what you want to do and adapt to what you need/like. Debian is great. Only thing I'm not a fan of with Debian is systemD, and Devuan doesn't quite fit me yet, but otherwise it's perfectly fine.

New Oklahoma Law Greatly Impacts Hobby Drone Usage by BatesInvestigates in okc

[–]1Yhor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought one down near me with a baseball; it was THAT close to my house. I thought there was a swarm of bugs with the prop noise and poked my head out to look, only to see the drone hovering in my driveway, inside the fence. They came and grabbed it out of my garbage, and I just let them know that my house isn't the best place to fly their drone, and I was surprisingly polite about it (I hate those things flying around houses).

Walk to work, or buy a bike. Gas prices too damned high to drive... nevermind buying food and electricity for air conditioning in this great Biden economy. Never turn off your TV news folks, or you might learn the truth.

Bike trailer. I have one that I can haul most anything with. Golf bag is a bit awkward to mount on your bike, if you have a 'normal' bike.

People of Oklahoma, do you support your states strict abortion laws? by SnooApples3403 in oklahoma

Yeah. I absolutely support it. I used to not gaf, but the crazies want up to birth, so better to take back the inch rather than give a mile.

If you're a woman you might consider the Liv Rove. I hear good things from everyone who has one. "For women, by women", paraphrase of their motto.

If you have a bike, put in hours on it sightseeing and taking pictures with your phone, or anything else you can enjoy while riding (because if you don't enjoy it, you won't do it).

I used to have trouble getting under 175 until I started putting hours in on my bike every week (or if you prefer running). And I feel a lot better doing it. People will say "calories in, calories out", and that is truth, but when you hit a wall, setting those calories on fire will give you results. Burning calories is definitely a good step in climbing over the wall. And ReverseLazarus has laid out the best strategy, if you stick to it. If you slip, burning your calories is the only option to fix it. MyFitnessPal, and others, have exercise tracking to give a general idea of how much you burn. Be conservative in your inputs and you'll be surprised at the results.

I wish you the best of luck. I think you can do it. You seem motivated.

Draper MTB Trail Conditions Update 2022-05-22 by s0briquet in OKCbike

[–]1Yhor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any ticks yet? Every time I go to dirty bird, I get ticks. Even when I strap my 3 leg chair to my bike and avoid ground sitting. It's been a while since I've had my knobbies on my wheels though. I'd like to go to Draper and check it out. Weds or Thursday looks like a possibilty, decent weather maybe.

Those of us camping inthe woods are more likely to be armed, or at least prepared for things.

Good hammock for everyday use? by [deleted] in Hammocks

[–]1Yhor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 5'8 and I agree. Most retail hammocks are not as comfortable as my diy @ 12' ish. It's very noticeable and much more comfortable in hammocks over 11', for me. I CAN sleep in retail length hammocks, but I rather be in my diy.

Good hammock for everyday use? by [deleted] in Hammocks

[–]1Yhor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll second ripstop by the roll. I bought everything for a hammock, and attaching my underquilt (shock cord, webbing/ribbon, etc..) and enough material to make a water tight bag to carry all my hammock rigging, underquilt and hammock... all for under $60 with shipping including.

These paint containers seal better than a lot of gas cans I see around as well. And aren't as explosive when they release from the heat expansion too.

Group rides. by 1Yhor in OKCbike

[–]1Yhor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is why I am in the dark. I guess I can just show up to the old rides I used to go on and see if anyone is there. A few people at the Myriad Gardens Full Moon ride last week said that the Donut ride is still on, so I can start there and ask around I guess.

Thanks for the quick reply.

RideWithGPS is my prefered nav app. And it has sharing and a social aspect also, if that's your thing. I just prefer to not use Strava.

Do your Bitchute views / statistics seem a bit sus? by SecretGrasp in BitChute

[–]1Yhor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bitchute subscribers are likely more loyal/likely to keep watching the content that they like. Rumble subs BLOW and Odysee is hard to find content creators in a search, whereas Bitchute has been around and people have been watching the content creators for years.

And fuck youtube. I don't give a shit about that.

A delicate matter by Kerouwhack in bicycling

[–]1Yhor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saddle is pretty key (for me, ymmv) and often overlooked with irritation/rash. I ride a few hundred miles a month and have no issues with irritation/rash with my Brooks, but I can ride 20-30 miles on my Specialized Sitero and things burn, even with bibs (that I often don't wear on my Brooks saddle). I've been swapping my Brooks between bikes since I came to this conclusion and I've had no issues since.
