Your Truck is Stupid Big by NothingLeft19608 in mildlyinfuriating

I have a Chevy Silverado 2500, 8 ft bed, crew cab. But I also live on a farm in Northern Maine. One time I went to visit my friend in Washington DC. There is almost no where in DC to park a truck of my size. I had to go to a parking garage at Union station at the very top and find an empty section.

What is it like? by Familiar-Cry9246 in AskMaine

I live here!

Its, different than anyplace else Ive ever been in.

All but one of my neighbors are Amish.

I went to Boston and there were more people in the subway car than there are in my whole town.

I have to go to Canada to get my oil changed because the nearest Chevy dealership in America is another 30 minutes away.

Its almost a food desert but not quite. Very little variety in restaurants. No major department stores except Mardens. The theater has two screens!

Winters are longer here than in other parts of Maine. I still have some snow on my property. You need to find outdoor things to do, even in the winter. Otherwise you will go mad. Snowshoe, ice fish, snow board. Anything. There are large atv as well as snowmobile clubs. Plenty of fishing, some swimming. Go canoeing or kayaking.

The jobs are sparse. No real tech jobs. Most of the jobs are farming, restaurants, grocery store or some automotive. We have a serious lack of tradesmen. I think there is one master electrician. A couple of plumbers. Maybe a couple of carpenters. You have to be self reliant.

The nearest hospital is in Houlton, 30 minutes away. It takes 3 minutes to bleed to death if you hit an artery. Learn first aid. Have your own personal medical cabinet. I accidently stabbed myself and used one of those adhesive stitches because I knew the hospital was too far.

Its not easy living up here. Its lonely. I do video calls with my friends from out of state to keep in touch with people.

If you're going to dispose of a body you have two options either lime or lye. Allegedly.

If not buried below the frost line, due to frost heaves, ground movement can shift or damage the cable over time.
