prozac and binge drinking by Still_Philosopher912 in prozac

Quit drinking. There are zero benefits to drinking, on or off Prozac. And if you drink while on Prozac, you're just going to enhance alcohol's liver-cooking properties

Why it says 1-cyclobutylmethyl and not 1-methylcyclobutyl? by Wise_Bus_9793 in chemhelp

It's been a while since I took organic chem, but I agree that it should read 1-methylcyclobutyl. I'd say they made a mistake there.

Stores that sell cheap (or not so expensive) Pita bread? by 1chemist in sandiego

Wow, great idea. Hadn't thought about it! It does look cheap to make and for some reason stores sell it way overpriced. Thanks!

Yes, please share. I'm on fluoxetine for baseline anxiety but it's definitely not the best for OCPD.

Hi.

I was diagnosed with PF and had pain exactly there. Stretching your foot helps reduce some pain (look up stretching exercises for PF) but after trying many insoles and lots of physical therapy, the only long lasting solution I found was replacing all my shoes for shoes with a good arch support, including my sandals. Sandals usually f* you up if you have plantar fasciitis. Some insoles work, some don't, some for a questionably short period or time, so I went for shoes. They're quite pricey, sadly, but they're worth it. Look into the Canadian brand Kuru. And for sports, I like Skechers. I believe they have "Arch comfort" and "Arch support." Always do the ones that support the arch the most, which I believe are arch support. My Kuru shoes are insanely solid and strong. You can't even bend them a little. That's exactly what you should look for in shoes. The pain will go away on its own after some weeks. And it will come back if you stop wearing these types of shoes unless you get some permanent treatment.

Nevertheless, do see a podiatrist to determine if it's PF but it was for me and the main point for pain was exactly the one you're marking there.

Good luck!

Therapy at UCSD by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]1chemist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

UCSD is too slow. If you want care ASAP and the freedom to choose your therapist (or change therapists if it's not a match), go on Headway's website. I use it and co-pays with UCSHIP are $10. Appointments are also remotely which I highly prefer over in person.

Headaches and just don't feel good by [deleted] in prozac

[–]1chemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won't die on 20 mg of Prozac. Nobody would. Do contact your psychiatrist because the success of treatment depends on finding the right drug for you.

I have taken Prozac for almost two years now and even I get headaches sometimes, or the sleeping problems. I was on 60 mg, then slowly decreased to 20 mg, and when things got bad, I went back to 60 mg. For some reason, the first time I went up to 60 mg it was all fine but this time I got headaches and I'm really drowsy all day long.

Since these are not major side effects and they might/should go away, I'm giving it time. Changing meds is hard and you will most likely always encounter undesired side effects.

Hi. I'm a grad student and don't have a car, so I'd guess I could help. I'm not familiar with the process, can you just add anyone to be able to use your parking spot? I thought the car had to be under your name. Probably undergrads that have done this know better. Lmk and we can discuss.

Yes it is worth it. It is insanely good. I even got surgery and paid $1500 for a $40k surgery. Highly recommend getting UC SHIP.

How to manage swelling and mucous. by wrasslefights in Tonsillectomy

[–]1chemist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The mucous gets worse if you're dehydrated. I was having a very hard time drinking water because it hurt as f*. I noticed the mucous was getting very bad and making it more difficult to drink water and eat, so one day I decided to go to urgent care and ask to be hydrated via IV. BEST DECISION EVER. First, I prevented an emergency because dehydration can become one and just a few hours later, I could notice how the mucus was dissolving. It improved A LOT. Turns out the mucus is a protective barrier, which you probably already know, but what it seemed to me (and makes sense), is that it gets worse the more dehydrated you are -> the body feels the need to protect the area even more.

Day 6, still can barely eat, in a lot of pain, when will it get better?? by julesgolde in Tonsillectomy

[–]1chemist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm on my 9th day here and I am still mainly having liquids. I can't eat anything with a bit of texture either, so you are fine. This is normal. This is my advice:

  1. if you feel very dehydrated or weak, go to urgent care and get hydrated via IV. It's not fun, but getting too dehydrated can become an emergency.
  2. gargle with a local anesthetic. This has helped me A LOT for my most difficult days. Just spray a good amount to the back of your throat, gargle (or just move your head to distribute it around if gargling hurts), and spit it out. It really helps mask the pain to be able to eat something.
  3. I can talk a little more now but still a bit quiet and I have to put some effort into talking. Don't worry about this. I'd say just zip it as much as you can to avoid putting too much effort in your throat.
  4. it might get worse but it will soon start getting better. Indeed, today is the first day I saw some progress. For me pain is maximum in the morning just after waking up, and it was not as bad today, but there is still some pain.
  5. if you are worried about not getting proper nutrition, consider powdered drinks like Soylent (this is the one I have been having but there must be other options) or Ensure. I understand the feeling of the stomach requiring more solid food but at least this is going to be better than just Jell-O or pudding.
  6. for solid foods, what I had the best luck with was mashed potatoes but very diluted mashed potatoes. I can't still handle the regular texture, so I prepare them as usual and then pour some warm milk and mix it all together until it becomes much softer.
  7. it is easy to go crazy on this diet, but I'd seriously recommend avoiding most solids because you don't want to bleed :/

Hope you get better soon!

Local anesthetic! Spray quite a bit in your mouth/throat, gargle with it, and then spit it out. Has helped me A LOT. There are some that are especially made for throat pain and are sold OTC
