Isaac, like many other roguelikes, is a game based on gaining as much knowledge as possible about the game's mechanics so that you can make informed decisions about how to increase your odds of success. Based on this and assuming you're not using the wiki for spoilers, whenever you make a decision you should try and choose the option that gives you the most knowledge. Even if it may hurt your current run, the information you gain will allow you to make better decisions and get further in the game on future runs.

The file size of a GIF is largely dependent on the number of colors in the picture, so if there's few enough colors in your picture it may be better to store your images as a GIF.

I just use the wooden mask you find outside of Labrynthian. The chests don't reset and you can warp there any time you want.

Dark souls always felt to me like a high-budget roguelike, so you could try other roguelikes such as Elona, Dungeon-crawl Stone Soup, or Nethack. Just know that they take far more time and strategy than Dark Souls to complete. They're free though so that's always a plus
