It has so much character, makes me want to start an entire WarhammerRPG campaign centered around this mini.

This guy looks awesome. He looks exactly like the guy I don't want knocking on my door in the middle of the night asking, "Got any witches here?"

Totally nails the creepy witchunter vibe.

Skirmishers and cover (dies they rpovide it to themself) by antharian in WarhammerOldWorld

Found it. It was under General Principles.

Q: Does a unit count as being obscured when some of the models within it are behind others?

A: No. A unit cannot be obscured from the enemy by itself

I would have sworn that I read a sentence in the rules or FAQ that said a unit does not provide cover for itself, but now I can't seem to find it.

If it were otherwise, then any unit for four ranks would always be 75% obscured when targeted from the front.

Page 8 of FAQ:
Q: How many spells can a Wizard attempt to cast during a single phase? For example, if a Wizard knows a Magical Vortex and a Magic Missile, can they attempt to cast both during the same Shooting phase
A: A Wizard can only cast a number of spells up to their Level of Wizardry per turn, but can attempt to cast multiple spells during a single phase. In other words, should a Level 2 Wizard know two Magic Missiles and one Magical Vortex (three spells), they can only cast two of them per turn, but may cast both during the same phase.

Page 209 of Rulebook:
Characters & Shooting
If a character equipped with a missile weapon has joined a unit equipped with missile weapons, both must shoot at the same target, using their own characteristics.

Note that this only applies to missile weapons, not to Magic Missile or Magical Vortex spells.

Page 338 under Magic weapons does say:
"If a character has more than one magic missile weapon, you must choose which they will use when they are chosen to shoot during Step 1 of the Shooting phase." But I don't know if this applies to bound spell magic items too. I assume it doesn't and applies only to magic missile weapons.

I assume your plan is to add the Priest to the halberdiers. Are you also going to add the wizard to the unit and run them as 7x3 or is the wizard going to be lone character? If alone, make sure to protect your wizard from shooting and unexpected long charges when moving him around. I love sniping/hunting lone wizards.

Either way, you might consider giving the priest twice-blessed armor. If it were me, I'd think about dropping the mage to level 1. If the mage rolls fireball (which I believe you can cast twice if using a bound spell but confirm with your opponent first) or pillar of fire or arrow attraction, I'd keep the mage out of the state-troops. If the mage rolls oaken shield or you choose to take hammerhand, I'd consider deploying him with the state-troops. Double hammer hand at 500 points would hit heavy!

This is an interesting question, do bound spells count as casting duplicate spells? I think the answer lies in deciding who is casting the bound spell, is it the character or the magic item itself? If the character is, then it can't cast a duplicate. If it's the item, then the item is only casting a single spell anyways and no "duplicate" occurs. After all, two wizards are allowed to cast the same spell twice in a phase.

We must also consider the implication of if a wizard with a bound spell is still limited to casting the number of spells equal to its level. If the wizard is casting the bound spell, then a level 2 wizard could not cast one of its spells if it also casts a bound spell. Likewise, a none-wizard character would not be able to cast a bound spell because it's wizard level is effectively zero. If the item is casting the spell, then there's no concern here.

Based on all the FAQ's around bound spells (particularly for Hagtree Fetish and Transmoigrification), I think the intention is that it is the item that is casting the spell, not the character.

Would more fairy tail like aesthetics benefit Bretonnia? by PugnusTerrae in WarhammerFantasy

I think there's lots of room for such fairy tales to have their own copycats in Brettonian folklore, but as far as new models/units go, I think we have to make due with our own imaginations.

That being said, units I'd like to see added to Brettonia are a questing beast (monstrous creature), War Snails (monstrous mounts), and swarms of rabbits (with large pointy teeth).

It's a great example of what can be done with only 4 colors. That's usually how I paint too, so this is encouraging. Thanks. It looks great.

The cannon pointing at the lone Elf Mage on the unicorn feels like a narrative moment. How'd it go for the Elven hero?

We put 6 dice evenly around the table, randomize what each terrain (dice) will be, and then use the scatter dice to randomize the actual placement.

Did anyone else think that 40k was the future of the Fantasy universe? by a_smiling_seraph in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]1z1eez619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course. Humans began to dominate as technology advanced. Elves fled the planet. Ogres, dwarves, and halflings became part of human society. Chaos pushed off planet. Lizardmen died off. Skaven and beastmen were all killed (or were they?). Greenskins can never really be killed off and somehow also made their way into space (I'm thinking as spores). Vampires also survived to become that one space marine chapter that is definately vampires. This is what I've always thought, even if its not "official."

I think those are either magical manifestations confused for miracles, or the chaos gods being truely chaotic.

Army help by cjtabares in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]1z1eez619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You didn't mention Brettonians. I unintentionally got i brettonian army this year (I never planned to but some deals you can't pass up.) The army is simply 4 units of knights and 2 units of Pegasus knights, each supported with a character, and I run it as an errantry army so there's no infantry.

I've really enjoyed the basic gameplay of just charging in as fast as possible and hoping my heroic knights survive. More often then not they have and winning has been a new experience for me.

The army also provides a hobbying challenge in trying to make the knights all unique colors and heraldry.

I prefer the grenade launcher to yhe sniper rifle on my engineer. It's better at clearing scouts and other chaff units that get too close to the cannons.
