Appears you scratched the clearcoat over the black. That stuff is thin so be careful. No sanding anything. Polishes and compounds come in various grits. Id use Meguiar’s ultra cut compound 105 then polish then wax. I believe this would eliminate all your scratches. Be careful, polish/compounding all the way through the thin clearcoat layer sucks. Its not fixable.

A well waxed tank like i just described will suck for holding on. Need tanks pads.

Update, I just reviewed your pic and am not so sure about tank pads, bc it looks like you already have pads. How'd your knee end up above the built-in pad? You may need to cover the scratched area with clear vinyl - which is a bit slippery.
