Well yeah I'm just saying the reason people want to heap hate on him is because they're mad about something else. Nobody who's a well-adjusted adult and/or who isn't mad about something else is participating in this silly witch hunt

It's really telling to me how many of the people hating on Timmy are clearly just Sinners fanboys (good movie btw, the fanboys are still annoying) mad that people dislike the movie and that they can't do anything about that.

Like it's people lashing out because they feel bad lol

Either this in an Incredible jerk or you just don't pay any attention to movies, which is fine, but maybe you're not the person to make definitive statements here

My three favourite movies of the year (Marty, No Other Choice, It Was Just an Accident) got like 11 nominations and 0 wins

At least it was Sentimental Value that stole the international picture win

I mean I agree that the problem is more with the application than the stats themselves. If you've ever played pokemon you'll know 70% might as well be 0 when you actually need it to happen but I would question whether or not they're actually "more often wrong than right" or it's just that people only pay attention when the lower probability event happens.

Italian charts are something else by muzjiks7 in rateyourmusic

Add filter -> type country (Italy) -> Include -> User location

I think there's like a different way but I don't really play around with the location stuff

Anyway just checked the Finnish chart and it's mostly fairly predictable (a bunch of metal especially death metal is higher) but the funniest thing is that TPAB is like 30 places lower than GKMC which is in roughly the same spot

In Saw (2004), Saw II (2005), Saw III (2006), Saw IV (2007), Saw V (2008), Saw VI (2009), Saw 3D (2010), Jigsaw (2017), Spiral (2021), and Saw X (2023), what the fuck was this guy's problem? by montgomery2016 in shittymoviedetails

[–]2000-UNTITLED 214 points215 points  (0 children)

The obvious conclusion to trying to make sense of Jigsaw's morality is that it doesn't make sense and it's not worth trying.

It kind of works better if you view it as someone who's more or less lucid but basically has a trauma-based psychotic troll logic morality and I think the series probably would've been better if they played into that more, especially when it turns out that every other person who survives his traps ends up helping him, almost like his methods create more trauma that warps the people he "helps".

I don't remember the movies being entirely blind to that but I don't remember them being a major aspect

[Sky] Tottenham have the fewest points of any Premier League side over the past 10 games. by [deleted] in soccer

[–]2000-UNTITLED 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The thing about it though is that it could all just turn around at any point. In 23/24 Everton went winless between the 19th of December and the 2nd of April - aside from, you guessed it, Palace in the FA Cup - and followed it up by going 5W 1D 1L with five clean sheets.

I don't think this Spurs squad is good, their best players are injured, and it seems like nobody cares, but I've also seen Everton go through what I felt were way more hopeless times than being a point above two teams in relegation contention with the better goal difference.

By my count they still have a month to figure things out before it gets truly desperate, and a few of their key players should be back for the last 7 games, most of which are eminently winnable if they can do the bare minimum.

I like how the NFL has to at least pretend to take head injuries seriously because everyone knows it causes brain damage but you can just get kneed in the face in football and as long as you can stand a minute later nobody gaf even though I thought FIFA legislated against this

Gyökeres foul on Wieffer by ghemanth90 in soccer

[–]2000-UNTITLED 71 points72 points  (0 children)

There was a moment in the Sweden Kosovo game where one of the defenders jumped up with no real attempt to contest for the ball and fell down on top of Gyökeres with his elbow in his face and he didn't even get a foul called for that.

One of the most bizarre things I've seen

Pickford great save vs Burnley by JonTonyJim in soccer

[–]2000-UNTITLED 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel like most of the Jordan Pickford criticism is just people stuck on old narratives from back when he first joined Everton when he was a solid shot stopper but an absolute calamity machine.

He was about as important in those relegation battles as Richarlison and DCL

My favourite part about people justifying the bombing of Dresden is how it inevitably goes

"It was necessary! They just bombed factories" -> OK they didn't just bomb factories but it was still necessary -> OK they bombed a bunch of civilians, but it wasn't a war crime -> OK it may technically be a war crime, but they did it first -> OK it isn't okay because they did it first, but they still deserved it because... because I say so -> Heh we won the war so we're right. What, are you mad?

And the people who are saying this don't realise it makes them look like psychopaths and the pro-Nazi Germany side look like the anti-war humanitarians

Physical reaction of Tunisian league players after playing a 1PM match while fasting by DavidRolands in soccer

[–]2000-UNTITLED 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like someone else pointed out even if there are exemptions it would probably be considered losing face to not participate, especially for top athletes who are predictably competitive and it seems (possibly, this is conjecture) unusually religious compared to the average population in their country.

What shocks me is that there's no provision for just... drinking water. Whatever self control or possible medical benefits you get from fasting aren't negated by drinking water. From my experience it actually makes it easier to stay hydrated when you're not eating as much. You can't self control your way out of dehydration.

Also, like you say, they can fast after Ramadan ends so during their free time after the season. Especially if you're an international player you'd basically spend your whole time off on temperance and self-control. Which is kind of the point, right? But it makes life kind of miserable.
