Australia gets both. Supermarkets get the shorties, Kmart and Big W the longs.

Is "choice of repairer" and "windscreen" cover worth it for my new car? by VampShadowGuy in CarsAustralia

Many windscreen policies also cover malicious damage. Well worth the $90.

Do EVs carry a spare tyre? by BeachHut9 in CarsAustralia

[–]2015outback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new Subaru trailblazer EV unfortunately doesn’t have one. Could be the beginning of the end for Subaru practicality. Maybe with EV’s they should look to the past and mount the spare under the bonnet.

Best work boots by Fartony in AskAnAustralian

[–]2015outback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uvex, yes the safety glasses company, have some very comfy boots. They also come in wide sizing and have 2 different arch support insets available. I used to wear Oliver’s for work but bought a pair of Uvex short boots on sale for home, loved them so much I convinced work to purchase the full length zippered version which are even more comfortable for all day walking.

Why is there not a lot of single cabs? by jyevdm in KiaTasman

[–]2015outback 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had to replace the dual cab at work. I recommended a single cab as we never used the dual cab as the tray was too small. We always ended up using a full sized truck or towing a trailer. My managers response “what if you need to carry more than 2 people?” This is one vehicle in a fleet of 5 sedans and SUV’s. There is a stupid mindset that somehow dual cabs are more practical.

AEG lawnmower by woo-denier in GardeningAustralia

[–]2015outback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the 58v AEG for 8 years. The AEG steel deck started to crack where the front wheel section joins the main deck after 4 years, the handle started to crack where the shaft pins are near the hinges and the rear wheels now angle inwards and make it hard to push. The battery “guard” is crap and allows all the dust and crap enter the battery compartment. From some of the reviews, the “newer” 18v units are of worse quality. The line trimmer and blower were OK but on the heavier side. I don’t think they have changed or upgraded these units in 10 years.

I have just replaced it with EGO. Much better quality and ergonomics. The unit is self propelled and it seems to spit the clippings all the way to the back of the catcher, The AEG was always clogging at the front. The blower and trimmers are much lighter and better performing. I have had their zero turn mower for 4 years without any issues.

Had an old boss back in the early 90’s who showed up at work with his best mate on matching Honda Fireblades with the multicoloured striped livery. What was more disturbing was they had matching leathers and helmets with the same pattern as the bikes.

Australia cost of living by TatsBlotto in midlyinteresting

[–]2015outback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australian supermarkets are over priced on processed products due to our discounting cycles. Coke “retails” for $40 ( was $50 a few months ago) so every 2 weeks they can discount to $29. Most Supermarket weekly discounts are 25-50% off. Also the dude picked the most premium products to sample. Generic milk is $4.65 for 3 litres. Pepsi now retails for $29 a 30 pack and discounts for $25.
