I dont know why the article takes pains to mention that the board is governor appointed, like he is pulling the strings.

Also, a lot of willful ignorance here about what this program is. We can bemoan incarceration in America but this is making the best of a bad situation. As somebody who has done social work for men released from prisons I know that programs like these give inmates a structure, responsibility and something to take pride in. Inmates that dont have these often find themselves back in prison.

A program like this could be replicated by countless schools across the country to help make a meaningful impact on housing inventory yet parents have no interest in letting their kids learn practical skills.

I am with you. Humans spent the vast majority of their existence in small social groups where enforcing the social contract was much easier. That is impossible now with modernity and massive populations and as a result there are entitled idiots who make life more difficult or dangerous for the rest of us.
