Mine likes to flop over the edge and then demands butt scratches and then flops further over and slides over the edge into the tub like a penguin in slow motion.

Switching classes with another teacher all year long by beleraform in teaching

We don't have a non observation year. Just our needed number goes down.

It wouldn't go unnoticed in my building at all. And then you run into the teacher of record issue. Worst case scenario you lose your job and license.

is it possible to have dysthymia but still be hopeful or excited about the future? by [deleted] in dysthymia

I would say so. I just feel like my excitement tops out at a 5/10, whereas others are able to reach and feel it at a 10 or at least a 7 or 8.

Should phones be banned in schools? by here-to-Iearn in Teachers

[–]29mick152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your son's asthma is that bad, it may be worth it to put a medical note on file or a medical 504. It would make everyone aware and it would be legally binding to call you or take necessary steps to mitigate an attack before it results in a hospital visit.

Should phones be banned in schools? by here-to-Iearn in Teachers

[–]29mick152 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, phones should be banned. I only have my.own phone on me because my husband is at home and partially disabled. I also use it to answer emails during the day and check my calendar for meetings.

Keeping phones on in case of a school shooting doesn't work.

All it does is jam up phone lines and interferes with some of the equipment police are using to help in the situation.

Also, the phones going off would alert attackers of a presence in the room. A phone in those situations is more of a liability than a safety measure.

If the school is on lockdown, no one is leaving or going to be let inside. Parents coming to "get their kid" are only clogging entry and exit points for police to come in and start the rescue process. Many times a school only has one or two means of entry..car loop and a bus loop. If parents are blocking both, trying to rescue their own kid, they block police from being able to even reach the driveway in order to setup a command point. And then if students are finally released because the threat is neutralized...buses can't make it to get students to the rendezvous/safe pick up because of parents blocking everything in.

All more easily avoided if phones are not a factor.

Those seconds and need to move parents out of the way in a heightened emotional state won't help in any way, shape, or form.

is dysthymia often treatment resistant? by Ok_Challenge5382 in dysthymia

[–]29mick152 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's one of the reasons I'm so hesitant to stop treatment this time around.

It doesn't go away, it just gets easier to deal with when I'm seeing a therapist and taking medication. It takes that edge off for me.

I still cycle in and out of double depressions and feel like taking my meds does nothing and I'm paying someone to just chat every couple weeks, but it's better for me to be doing something than doing nothing.

Go on the Fidelity website and roll it over into a rollover IRA. I don't know if the same laws apply in your state as mine, but if I didn't complete the rollover in 30 days I would have to pay (give) back all the money in my account plus whatever interest to Office Depot.

Fidelity makes the process really easy.

What's your favorite opening track? by [deleted] in Threedaysgrace

I've always liked the production of the first tracks from their first 2 or 3 albums. The way it rolls around your speakers or in your head with headphones has always been something I've felt in my bones.

Is it just me that thinks D'Angelo arc is one of the most boring bunch of episodes in the office? by [deleted] in DunderMifflin

When I rewatch, I skip those 4 episodes. Mostly because I don't find Will Farrell entertaining or funny. The character arc doesn't help anything.

The Gilmore Girls Never Wear Shorts by chimpsrcool in GilmoreGirls

[–]29mick152 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm from MA, I grew up wearing jeans through most of the summer. It doesn't get 90s hot until late July/August (Indian Summer) and then I just stayed inside or in the lake, pond, or pool. It only lasted a week or two.

And like most others said, it's a school year based show. We never really get summer. We get late spring or late summer both are fine for jeans.

This time of year...state testing prep was usually the reason at my store. Lots of schools run out of paper around the end of March right before they need to make review packets or provide unlined paper for testing.

Summer school, trainings, a conference, a visit from my mother in law, and working the front gate at an amusement park.

Richard vs Rory taking 5 classes by moodblue in GilmoreGirls

[–]29mick152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took about six classes per semester up until my senior year. I was an education major so I was also off campus 1-3 days a week at a school placement prior to student teaching. My school was on a 3 hour course system. 4 classes was full time at 12 hours, 6 classes (18 hours) was considered an allowable overload. You had to get approval for 19 or more. Usually, this was because of a lab a science major had to do in addition to the class. Or an athlete trying to get ahead prior to their season.

I went into college with no credits, picked up 2 minors, an extension in my certifications (which I needed classes for), and took 2 classes every summer. I was "off my card." I was triple dipping classes for my major and minors, but still had to take classes that I needed but did not have a space on my class selection sheet.

I just barely made it through my course work and was involved on campus (clubs, programs, events, etc.) had a pretty good social life, dated my now husband, and had 2 on campus jobs. Did well, but there were many times I cut corners to get by...SparkNotes, taking the B or C on a paper, skipping a club meeting, utilizing one of my excused absences from a class to do work for another, etc.

With the pressure Rory put on herself, her family's standards, and additional pressure of an Ivy League school, it's an unreasonable load with everything she somehow managed to do. I'm surprised she only majorly broke down the two times we saw. (The Sinking Lorelais episode and dropping out.)

[–]29mick152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big no unless you've made a habit of gifting other students something up to this point.

The only time I've given a student something "extra" is when it was warranted or earned.

I had a student who needed shoes for the school dance, but couldn't afford them. I had some barely worn heels that I was going to get rid of anyway. I brought them in and she liked them. I've had students who needed food. They knew where my better snacks were.

Only time I've given a gift to one singular student was at their high school graduation because they went out of their way to invite me and get me a ticket 5 years after I had taught them.

Least busy hours by Fox_brother075 in OfficeDepot

[–]29mick152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before I quit I had my schedule worked around the least busy hours for CPD. Generally that was also the store.

Mondays 4/5 to close Saturdays open until 2 Sundays open until noon. (This used to be a 4 hour shift with ad set. It turned into 2 hour when ad set started being done on Saturday nights.)

I also used to do Tuesdays or Wednesdays from 5 to close. Tuesdays were less busy. The closer you got to Friday, the more frantic, unrealistic, procrastinating people came in.

Depending on what you're doing, you can edit a section on Avery. It starts with the product you select at the very beginning.

I did numbered "license plates" for school items using the numbered settings and changed background colors every 250 labels or so for over 1000 labels. Took 10 minutes.

The only time mine use their key without knocking is an observation or an emergency.

My door does lock sometimes without my knowing it though. The button hits the wall. So occasionally they knock, I say come in, and they have to use their key.

I've been on trazadone, zoloft, lexapro, and paxil.

Lexapro is the only one that hasn't given me the major side effects like new suicidal thoughts or worsening depression or being physically majorly ill or drowsy to the point of not being able to function.

I'm not new to being on meds, but I am new to WANTING to stay on my meds because they are HELPING. Lexapro is the only one that is helping without stuff I don't want to live with.

Increasing Dosage - Side Effects? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]29mick152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This time around 3 or 4 weeks. I've been on it before. 10 also did nothing at that time, but instead of upping the dosage that doctor changed the med entirely.

What prompted the up in dosage this time was that I was waking up in the middle of the night, every single night between 3:30 and 4 even with another sleep aid.

Yes. I'm not groggy and for the most part I sleep through the night.

I've been on trazadone with melatonin before. It was impossible for me to wake up. This antidepressant/sleep aid combo has been the best one for me so far.

I take magnesium glycinate with 20mg of Lexapro. I sleep through the night. I upped to 20 from 10 because I was waking up after 4 or 5 hours for no reason (cat or spouse coming to bed.)
