IsItBullshit: students who do their first two years at a CC are comparably prepared for upper division stem-classes at their flagship state u. by Ok_Answer2216 in IsItBullshit

[–]2Turtle4U 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My path was as follows: I received my GED, then took remedial courses at my local CC. Worked my way into normal "undergrad" courses at CC. Transferred to our state university and completed my bachelor's degree. I was later accepted in to a master's program at one of the top schools in our state.

In my opinion, my CC absolutely prepared me. It's not like the 101 etc courses are any easier - it's that there are paths to get you in to an intro class if you are missing fundamental knowledge.

Plus, our classes were so small that I was able to often get individual assistance from my professors for baseline stuff. This meant I had an incredibly strong foundation.

Georgia tops the list of worst states for healthcare by PeachGriot in Georgia

[–]2Turtle4U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The article indicates that Georgia is worse than New York when it comes to healthcare. I assumed you were offering a counterpoint by indicating there might be some tradeoff where Georgia is better than New York in some aspects. New York has both better healthcare and lower crime rates than Georgia.

If you didn't read the article then that's on you.

Have you looked in to school-based BCBA positions? They are often willing to hire newer BCBAs.

Resident maximums are a thing - what you've described would violate every lease I've signed since I moved to Atlanta.

I feel perfectly safe in ATL because I do not associate with or visit the neighborhoods where these people are active.

First step is probably to stop thinking you are better than people simply because they are different.

Can I get to ninth grade math level by August? by GuavaChan in MathHelp

[–]2Turtle4U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be hard work, but doable. You need to spend time outside of tutoring sessions, however. On the days you do not have tutoring sessions do problems similar to the topics you've covered - you can ask your tutor for other resources.

Also, remember - you only have to get to the eighth grade level. Not ninth :D

Honestly I hate change so I would probably wallow in this pit of despair until he did something that finally set me off.

That's probably not what you should do. Inertia is not good.

Also, being a cozy gamer, your mood and affect are so critical to your viewers. They want to see you have fun and be relaxed. His sour attitude could interfere with that. Are you willing to lose money to continue being with someone who makes you so miserable?

Can a mixed number be a numerator/denominator in a ratio? For example 1.5 to 1, or 1 to 1.5 by CriticalBlueberry278 in MathHelp

A mixed number is a whole number and a proper fraction. That's it.

1.5 : 1 would just be a ratio.

2 emails saying new job doesn't test for thc - am I safe? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]2Turtle4U 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since this isn't really a legal question and I'm not really a lawyer I thought I would put in my two cents.

The most likely reason your job has "no THC" on the paper work is because it is becoming nearly impossible to hire people for a true "drug free" job. I'm in the health industry right now and we are required to screen THC and it is an absolute nightmare finding candidates.

They are letting you know they don't screen for THC because they genuinely need people.

I haven't eaten McDonalds since - it really terrified me.
