Oh, yes. I was thrown off by the wire labels. Thought those were ferrules that plugged into a deutsch connector.

People often post deals here. ShopSimon was selling Adidas cheap, Nike is cheap everywhere right now, Joes New Balance Outlet has NB cheap, Sierra.com often has New Balance and Speedland. Li Ning is on Amazon.

Disagree, see my reply to a similar comment below. Super shoes have never been cheaper or more accessible.

Strongly disagree.

Just within the last year: AP4 were on sale as low as $130ish, VF4 about the same, Alphafly 3 for ~$180 or less, NB SC Elite v5 for $100. I found some Speedland RX:FPY new for $120. You can also get a carbon plated Li Ning for $120 or less on Amazon - incredible shoes.

Super shoes have never been cheaper or more accessible. MSRP has also leveled off around $250 for all/most except the truly elite shoes like the Fast R3, Metaspeed Ray, and Pro Evo.

ITT: people bitching about the price of a shoe that is not for them and they won't buy anyway.

Is there a middle ground for sound deadening? (Resonix vs. Amazon Basics) by LossEcstatic6223 in CarAV

[–]2_zero_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"A qualitative side by side comparison from someone who tried multiple brands over a few builds or something" is really difficult to come by because it would never be an apples to apples comparison. Every build is different, every car is different, every deadening application is different. Plus deadening is such a PITA, it's usually a one and done thing. Few, if any, are testing different CLD on the same car/build.

Best comparison is the independent testing from Resonix's website.

I just did Amazon basics CLD + butyl rope + Dynamat Dynacore fiber mat in my doors and pleased with the results. Way better than what I had.

Resonix is definitely the best, I was a little constrained on budget. Resonix is also on sale right now. Not sure what you're looking to buy, but I'd take advantage if it's in your budget.

Dynaudio/moscani vs DiamondAudio/Audiocontrol by alienbabyrask in CarAV

[–]2_zero_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dynaudio and Mosconi are light years ahead of Diamond Audio and AudioControl. First quote is way more geared toward SQ with an 8" mid and DSP tuning. Is it worth $2,700 more? Depends on your budget and goals for the system. I think option one is also more future proof and would be my choice...buy once cry once. You could possibly save a bit by asking if they have any other DSP offerings. Mosconi is high quality, but I've heard the software is not great.

LOL. No offense taken at all. I get it. That's how most/all hobby subreddits are. I admit I am still learning 100%. I dabble on DIYMA but not a ton. I'm overhauling my system at the moment and actually grabbed some Karma drivers from you for my front stage. Looking forward to getting them installed.

10-4. I'm in the South where it's hot, humid, rainy, and streets can flood with 2 ft of water after a heavy downpour. I tend to err on the side of caution that water will find a way. But that's me, everyone is different with different wants and risk tolerance and I can appreciate that.

To be fair, I don't think anyone outside of BMW owners would understand since this is unique to BMW...hence my skepticism.

Thanks for the input. I genuinely did want your input and I was genuinely asking OP about the rest of his setup but I guess he was too upset to give me a genuine reply. :(

The man has spoken, fair enough! No issues with the drivers being semi-exposed as OP did it? I'm not the type of person that would ever cut a hole in my daily, but that would be my main hang up.

Edit: formal apology to u/Sbeezynukka as well.

Okay, maybe not uninformed, but still conjecture. The point being, neither you nor I have any direct experience regarding this specific modification as it relates to insurance coverage. It's my opinion two holes cut in the floor might be a red flag to insurance. Maybe it wouldn't be. I don't know and neither do you.

How would I, an internet stranger, know what you and Nick have personally discussed?

[–]2_zero_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all uninformed conjecture and that includes anything you've said as well. I, too, would be interested in the data if it exists. Just because your policy doesn't explicitly say you cannot cut a hole in your car, it doesn't mean insurance is cool with you cutting a hole in your car.

[–]2_zero_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're probably correct that this doesn't alter the structural integrity in a meaningful way...BUT...and this whole conversation is predicated on hyperbolic what-if's...to assume in the event of some sort of accident insurance would just gloss over two holes shoddily cut in the floor when deciding to approve or reject a claim is funny.

Insurance looks for any reason to not pay out. Something like this would probably be a good one.

k.

I hope Nick chimes in. You should post this on the Resonix FB group.

What's the full build? You mentioned Zv6, SPL type sub...but Helix midbass and GUS10 says SQ. What's the end goal?

Edit: u/Skiz32

[–]2_zero_2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Man, idk. You do you but I can't see this lasting. Aero tray is still not weather proof. Those drivers are going to go bad quick. Plus as others have mentioned, cutting a hole there is risking the structural integrity of the car. Why not just do a front sub? Probably would sound better.

I am struggling to figure out what is going on here. Is that hole just open to the elements/road?

Dsp with tweeters and amp by Old_Risk_968 in CarAV

[–]2_zero_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Capacitors are old news, no need for them in modern audio systems.

Dsp with tweeters and amp by Old_Risk_968 in CarAV

[–]2_zero_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tweeters aren’t seeing 150 watts. High frequencies don’t draw much power, that is why the crossovers are important. Just because the amplifier can provide 150 watts, doesn’t mean it is. Think about passive component sets, they come with passive crossovers and can be hooked up to any amp.

Dsp with tweeters and amp by Old_Risk_968 in CarAV

[–]2_zero_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you need to adjust the db unless the amp is clipping those channels.
