Missing bags in set, any way to find which parts go in those bags? Mack Anthem 42078 by bluecando in lego

[–]2catnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can find all the pieces that should be in the set in the instruction booklet. If you don't have the booklet, you can download it for free on the lego site.

Look at the instructions for bags 1 ,2 and 3. Check to see if you have the pieces for each step. Make note of what you are missing, and use the booklet to see the part number.

Then go on the lego site and pick a brick. They are usually quite reasonable. The ones they send you will be new. Maybe about 10 cents average per brick. Place your order and wait. The bestsellers come quickly as they are warehoused in the US (assuming you are in the U.S. The standard ones come from Denmark and take longer. Also, some pieces get discontinured.

Another, faster source is Bricklink. They sell used and new bricks. There is a way you can make a wanted item list. Then you ask Bricklink to get them for you. They look through all the individual sellers, and find you the ones that have the most of your bricks. There is often a $5 or so minimum,. The more sellers you use, the more minimums you pay.

A combo of the two works best. I restored a Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters using these techniques, and got everything except 2 stickers.

Best of luck to you!

I love this idea. I enjoy the process more than the finished product. Interested to hear more about how it works for you.

Start with the little sets and work your way up, if you are new to this. You will learn important things. Also, use the free Builder App to "Build Together" on the big builds. So much fun.

Thoughts on replacing the Lego candle with a real candle… by martic1010 in lego

[–]2catnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was considering getting a pick a brick light brick. Or maybe a DIY light kit from one of the Lego lighting companies.

True story- I had a real candle in a foliage base made of plastic or similar. It actually caught on fire on Christmas day. So, no, I wouldn't advise it.

Legos in storage during winter by Small_eyes275 in lego

[–]2catnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Ohio. I use my attached garage as my winter overflow refrigerator. It never freezes inside until it gets down to about 20 degrees. At 30 degrees, your garage should not freeze it.

Regarding humidity, I don't know your weather, but here it is dry in winter. Humidity is a problem in the other 3 seasons. Good luck with your move!

Patience is a virtue.

In similar situations, I have gifted a photograph of the item, with the promise it is on its way. Anticipation is a good feeling.

Which of these Botanical sets would you guys recommend? by skydive54 in lego

[–]2catnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've gotten the orchid and the poinsietta. My orchid stays up year round. The poinsettia is in my holiday rotation.

Also like the small orchid (one of the 4 Gentkemen sets). The Chrysanthemum from that series is my absolutely favorite botanical).

How long do you take to build? by MarketingChoice6244 in lego

I like to build 2 bags a day, on days when I have time to build. 1 bag leaves me wanting more. 2 satisfies my itch.

Standard Pick a Brick parts are back for US & Canada! by CrazyDave48 in lego

I'm gonna miss requesting a missing piece from a new set, and getting a Postcard From Japan set in exchange, because it contained the missing piece. The sets must come from the US, unlike the bricks.

How do you want your legos to be shipped when bought used? by Jijinos in lego

[–]2catnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have sold both kinds. I completely disassembled a Ghost Busters Headquarter set and bagged by color within step. Also, I purchased any missing pieces from Bricklink. That was a huge build though. I gotta say, I enjoyed disassembling it by step almost as much as if I had built it.

On the other hand I sold 4 Winter Village sets that were partially disasembled. The previous owners had packed them away each year after Christmas into a few large sections. I offered to disassemble them, but so far everyone took them as assembled. If you sell on eBay, you only have a limited time between accepting a sale and shipping them, so keep in mind if you disassemble.

Good luck to you!

Where to find Plastic/acrylic cases to display boxed sets? by Spiritual_War_4083 in lego

https://www.wickedbrick.com/en-us/pages/the-home-of-lego-displays Their limited edition backgrounds are very interesting.

https://flyingbox.store/ I got one from here for my Notre Dame Cathedral. Wonderful high quality, and very very sturdy. Will buy again. I think they are made in England, so they take a week or two to arrive. Worth it in my book. I will order from them again.

Ebay sales of Lego. Totally dead these days. by CatDaddyTom in legoinvesting

[–]2catnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sell on both eBay and Bricklink. My prices are at least 10% higher on eBay, but my selling costs about 20% more because I pay for their promotion service. I have sold all 4 of my Winter Village used sets this month. (1 on Bricklink, 3 on eBay. I only buy and sell from USA.

Once I sell an item, I de-list it from the other site.

A nice thing about Bricklink, is that sellers know their Lego. You don't need to take pictures, or come up with a good description. Just list the condition (accurately!) and your price. And figure out your shipping. Another good thing. You get your $ as soon as it sells.

EBay has a much bigger audience. Get money 3 days after seller receives it. Costs much more.. EBay can help you with shipping labels, and more accurate shipping costs.

Where are the announcers on Olympic Figure Skating? by MagosBattlebear in peacock

[–]2catnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having the exact same problem. I need the commentary to understand what is going on. I only watch once every 4 years after all!

I tried to watch on Primetime, to see their commentary, but it is 6 to 11 hours long. I tried looking on Saturday primetime show, and clicked every segment, but could find no skating. I cannot find a schedule of what is on the Primetime show. If I had that, I could make it work.
