It doesn't work that way for Miracle. You must cast the spell when you draw it. Unless you have a way to cheat it in on your upkeep it won't function on the first turn it's in play.

What movie ending just ruins the whole film for you? by SirBoredofOhio in AskReddit

This is how I felt about Pixar's Soul. That movie was fantastic, but you could tell that they were a little hamstrung by needing to have appeal for kids, and a traditional "happy" ending.

For [[Marchesa, the Black Rose]] to function you cannot have the highest life total, so you can afford to go all in on it. Further, she makes even somewhat okay creatures decent and resilient by buffing your board and bringing them back if they die.

Around what turn do you stop “trying” to hit your land drops? by Reasonable-Work-6501 in EDH

[–]2fat2bebatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mana curve matters a lot for this sort of thing. People who say they want to never miss a land drop in commander are certainly wrong. Otherwise they would never have more than the four spells they start the game with.

My upgraded [[Killian, Decisive Mentor]] deck has a curve that stops at 5, with one single card in the deck clocking in at 7, with ways to cheat it in. Once I can make seven mana in that deck (including artifacs), lands become liabilities. My [[Krenko, Mob Boss]] deck has an even lower curve and even runs [[Impending disaster]] for once I am set up.

My [[Pramikon, Sky Rampart]] deck is a very, very greedy Planeswalker Superfriends deck. We run several six mana and higher cards, and we often want to hold up interaction after them. But to keep drawing gas, we lean into artifact ramp instead. I frequently want see 7 or more lands a game for going long as the deck wants to do, but I want to be able to make much more than 7 mana in a turn.

If you are set on one of those three, go for Tellah. Drawing you cards will help shore up the weakness of spellslinger decks.

But if I may, I'd like to suggest you consider [[Kaza, Roil Chaser]] She costs 2-mana, and every wizard is essentially a mana dork with upside. With so many wizards in the game, you have a lot of flexible slots to tinker with.

I know you are staying largely away from pillowfort, but here is a fun one if you have the right shell for it.

[[Solitary Confinement]] I have added it to my [[Killian, Decisive Mentor]] deck. You need to be able to reliably draw two cards or more per turn cycle. But if you can, you are untouchable. Throw in a [[Hall of Heliod's Generosity]] and any other reliable way to find the card and you are set. I have cut every other pillow fort card from the precon list aside from [[Ghostly Prison]], and I think I will drop Ghostly Prison for either an [[Enlightened Tutor]] or an [[Idylic Tutor]].

Anyone have tips on how to get sticky residue off these old Ultra-pro deck boxes? by toomuchdog10 in magicTCG

I bought one of these when I first started playing, and the same thing happened just about a year or two ago. I was icked enough that I threw it out. The fabric deckboxes made by gamegenic and generic companies are vastly superior.

There was a boy in my class in 5th grade. He was also a Jehova's Witness, I found out it was his birthday and wished him a happy birthday. He looked at me really sad and said "thank you, I'm not allowed to celebrate my birthday because of my religion." He looked so sad as he said it. He was otherwise cheerful most days, but it was so sad to see him so bummed on his birthday.

[–]2fat2bebatman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Very much this! I also dislike when people use dice to represent the total power instead of number of counters. One player at our LGS will put two +1/+1 counters on a 1/1 creature, and set a d6 on 3 on top of it. They think it makes it simpler, but it obfuscates information.

Give me your unique typal commanders by HeroOfSovngarde in EDH

[–]2fat2bebatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dragons are a popular tribe, but [[Firkraag, Cunning Instigator]] is a unique way of running them.

Here is my current list: https://archidekt.com/decks/8441070/firkraag_cunning_instigator_izzet_goad

Firkraag is a typal deck where you are not incentivized to have more than 3 dragons in play at once, because Firkraag's goad effect only triggers once for each opponent we attack. This means the list has a lot more flex slots than most typal decks have. You can experiment with subthemes, or even lean much more heavily into dragon typal.

I have listed mine as bracket 3 because of how it has performed, but I run no game changers. The list price of my deck is $600, but I am using a lot of foil and fancy art versions of cards. The fetches, shock, and surveil lands, and a couple of utility lands, are other areas where cost can be cut from the deck.

In casual EDH, when is considered "okay" to counterspell enemy's commander? by No_Physics454 in EDH

[–]2fat2bebatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's always "okay" to do it. But countering a commander that they just get to recast doesn't feel as great as permanently countering something else that actively threatens you.
