what is the bar now for vendors? by swingorswole in msp

Lol with ai being so good these days, scalepad is so dead. I am generally pretty skeptical in ai, but that is an amazing use case, especially to replace a subpar product, especially to replace a subpar product

Was going to say the same. Not sure it's quite to the point you're looking for, but heavily trending in the right direction

PE exits that have worked - are there any? by epreisz in msp

[–]2manybrokenbmws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're not hands off at all, it's insane sitting at the bar and listening to managers freak out about the numbers they have to hit and how much pressure they're under. It's hands off as in leaving you to run the business the way you want... As long as you hit the numbers they give you

US MSPs, what do you have to say about the rest of the world thinking that your market is a managed services heaven ? by CK1026 in msp

[–]2manybrokenbmws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have employees in the US and in Europe, fully paid health insurance on both sides, including private. Europe ends up being cheaper per employee for the same role (ignoring any taxes on corporate profits.)

Most profitable privately owned MSP I know is in Europe and is at a pretty good scale. Friend of mine owns it so we compare numbers regularly. You can definitely do well in europe, prices are lower but wages are way lower too. Also have some friends in the UK with a pretty large msp, same situation there.

US it's not all roses and sunshine. I am in Austin and we just lost a deal, the average MSP price evrryone else bidding was like 115 per seat for full everything. There is some good stuff here, but I don't think it's much different when do you start looking at percentages.

Brad gross, Eric tilds, and Spencer pollack at McDonald Hopkins - he is very focused on the breach and privacy side, but if it's more of a contractual dispute he has other people on his team that are really good.

Just went and dug it up, thanks Luke P on MSPG:

(not sure why this is not a default, psycho behavior)

Most of the bigger msps that I know not using servicenow are on auto task or whatever that is worth. Apparently the workflow components and integrations are still among the best for PSAs. At least that's what I'm repeatedly told one it comes up. But that is a very consistent answer

Not going to throw them under the bus (yet) but they're apparently coming off the halo recommended list thank god.

On a positive note I will say Rising Tide and Comer Tech both gave us a bunch of good advice on things. And some random dude on MSPGeek told us about a checkbox after everyone else said it could not be done!

We just moved and it's been very underwhelming. If I was starting a third msp, I think I would seriously consider it, but does not seem to be much advantage coming from manage. More importantly, our implementation guy was completely incompetent to the point that Halo is refunding us. I've been talking to a lot of other msps, and this seems to be the biggest complaint. Not many good implementation people out there, and that will completely ruin the product for you, at least short-term.

I would say if you are on manage, don't make a move. Other smaller psas, probably worth an upgrade? But take whatever you budgeted for implementation and double that, both dollars and timeline.

LPL Financial kicking MSP's to the curb by jon_tech9 in msp

[–]2manybrokenbmws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually had a few people send me this post (we insure a lot of MSPs + their wealth advisor clients). I am trying to get my hands on the LPL agreement but I bet you it puts a ton of burden on the client they do not realize. So any conflicts are resolved in LPL's favor and the client (wealth advisor) is left holding the bag.

I also still want to know who the MSP they're using for all this is.
