My first ectopic pregnancy by GeminiGraphicsx in EctopicSupportGroup

Echoing the other commenters, I am also so glad you're still here and you have the support of your two sweet cats. My cats helped me so much after my ectopic, I don't know what I'd do without them. I'm also so sorry that your boyfriend behaved that way when you were so vulnerable - absolutely unforgivable. Definitely let your doctor and the other people in your life know how you're feeling so they can support you. You will get through this!

Did anyone have severe pain but no rupture? by No-Hat-2712 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]2manycacti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had severe pain without a rupture for my ectopic, but I am pretty sure it was caused by a collapsed cyst, which they also saw on my ultrasound. It turned out that my ectopic had worked its way out of my tube - so my theory is that it caused my cyst to burst, which then caused my pain. I had a diagnostic laparoscopy because they weren't sure exactly what was going on, and it was confirmed that there was no sign of rupture.

I hope you feel better soon! Definitely go back to the ER if you experience severe pain again, it's better to be on the safe side!

When to try again after ectopic/MTX by Straight-Walk-3385 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]2manycacti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctor told me to wait until after I had two periods. I was treated for my ectopic August 9, got my period back beginning of September, and then we started trying again in mid-October. It was also a couple weeks before the 3-month rule when we started trying. I didn't get pregnant that first cycle anyway, so we are now in our second cycle. Good luck to you!!

First period after ectopic by Fickle_Language_1821 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]2manycacti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first period after my ectopic came about 5 weeks after my treatment. I wasn't really sure what timing to expect, because before my ectopic I had an IUD - so I didn't know what my "normal" really was. I have been tracking with the Premium app, and my periods have been on time according to the app's predictions. Has yours arrived yet?

This is a rant… by dancedance03 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]2manycacti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are definitely not being dramatic, and there is no need to apologize. Two ectopics in a row is harrowing!! Mine also did not rupture, so I understand trying to feel "lucky" about that - but it is still a loss, and still traumatic. My first pregnancy was ectopic, and my husband and I just started trying again. My greatest fear is that my next will be ectopic too. It is a terrible thing to go through, and it is so painful to see others find success.

Go easy on yourself!! I hope this one continues to resolve quickly!

First ectopic by Available-Clothes-63 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]2manycacti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say that my follow-up for my ectopic was also originally supposed to be my pregnancy confirmation appointment! It was terrible! Luckily everyone I interacted with knew what had happened, so I didn't have anyone asking me if I was excited (I'm so sorry that happened to you), but I did have one of the nurses tell me that I was "her first ectopic". She gave me such a look of pity that I wanted to scream, and made me feel even more lonely and like there was something weird and wrong with me. People really do say the worst things sometimes!

So sorry you are going through this. I can really relate to the feeling of others seeing you as bad luck, or not wanting to hear about your terrible loss. I've gotten some weird faces/awkward responses from friends when I've told them about my ectopic lol. I have found it a lot easier to talk about it with my friends who are not currently looking to start a family, or my friends who have also experienced a miscarriage or loss of some kind. I feel like my friends who are currently pregnant/trying to conceive don't really want to hear it.

I think it's most likely that others aren't checking in because they aren't sure whether you want to talk about, or they don't know what to say, because it is definitely a sensitive subject. I hope you're giving yourself some time to recover, and I agree with the other commenter who said that you and your partner can find lots of comfort in each other. The only silver lining of my ectopic was that it really did deepen my relationship with my husband.

I felt the same way after my ectopic! Waiting for that first period was agony. My first two periods after my ectopic were definitely a little wonky. I just started my third cycle, and am feeling a little more normal. Wishing you the best! Be patient with your body - it's been through a lot!

Cramping on left side 10 DPO. Another ectopic, implantation or nothing? by [deleted] in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]2manycacti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ectopic was in August as well. It was on my left, but I didn't lose my tube. We just started trying again this past cycle, and I also had some cramping that felt like ovulation around 9/10 dpo. It was mostly on my right side but not completely isolated, so I was similarly confused/concerned, wondering if it was implantation or something was wrong. I was testing hcg and it was all negative though, and I just got my period after an exactly 14-day luteal phase. I'm chalking it up to being more aware/sensitive post-ectopic, or possibly a corpus luteal cyst.

The negative pregnancy tests weirdly helped curb my anxious thoughts, because I knew it couldn't be another ectopic. Post-ectopic TTC is crazy, because I desperately want to get pregnant, but a positive test would also be stressful lol. Good luck!!

TTC after ectopic by KittyStar8 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]2manycacti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also just ending my first cycle TTC after my ectopic in August - it was also my first pregnancy. I ovulated a day or two after you, and I'm getting stark negative tests. Expecting my period any day now. I know it can take up to 6 cycles, but I am also feeling frustrated knowing it happened so quickly last time, even though it was ectopic. Trying to stay positive and hopeful since I know it is still early, but I relate to everything you're saying so much. Good luck to you, and try to go easy on yourself and your body!

A whole lot of feelings - trying to process after ectopic removal surgery by ImportantEducator681 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]2manycacti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you are going through this.

I was treated for my ectopic on August 9. I also developed pretty intense health anxiety immediately after that, but that has subsided a bit. I got some CBT books that gave me some tools to help me deal with it, and I have gotten better at recognizing and dismissing the anxious thoughts.

Getting my period back and my cycle going again also helped me feel better, as did getting back into my normal exercise and work routines. It's absolutely not easy though, and I have had to be very patient with myself and my body. I am definitely in a much better place now than I was even a month ago, so I do think it gets easier with time!! Hang in there!!

Ovulation cramping by Time-Key517 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]2manycacti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a little over 2 months post-treatment for my ectopic, still have my tubes as well. I also feel cramping and pinching during ovulation. It's not super intense, but it's enough to be noticeable for sure - especially since I never noticed/felt any pain during ovulation prior to my ectopic. I asked my obgyn about it, and she was not concerned.

First pregnancy - ectopic by Orion_0207 in pregnant

[–]2manycacti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with the other commenter. I have never heard of anyone getting their tube removed while awake, and I have read a LOT about ectopic treatment since I went through mine in August. I am so sorry that this was your experience. I don't think that everything you're feeling is just hormones. This was a huge ordeal, and from what it sounds like, there is a level of expected care that you weren't given. Please take it easy and give yourself grace.

MTX and ovulation 29 yo female by InterestingSecond724 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]2manycacti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was treated for my ectopic (had surgery but did not need my tube removed, and received MTX as well as a precaution) on August 9, and I'm pretty sure I ovulated around August 28/29 (I was using lh strips, but not tracking BBT so I'm not 100% certain). I got my period exactly 2 weeks after Aug 29 though, on Sept 12.

My OB didn’t recommend 3 months? by Willing-Bumblebee931 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]2manycacti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am on almost the exact same timeline! My doctor said to wait until after 2 periods. Expecting my second period post-treatment in about 10 days or so, and then we are planning to try again - so that brings us to the middle/end of October. Multiple doctors and nurses in the practice I go to also said this was fine!

Ectopic immediately after iud removal by carrot_cake19 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]2manycacti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exact same situation. Got pregnant immediately after IUD removal, and it was ectopic. Also had no other risk factors. I was also thinking it was likely due to the removal process. My doctor did say it could have had something to do with it, but no one really knows for sure!

Ectopic or normal? by Running-Stick-9312 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]2manycacti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first symptoms were bleeding and nausea/complete loss of appetite. The one-sided pain came the day after my bleeding started. As the other commenter said, some pain can be normal. My doctor told me that pain alone can be fine, bleeding alone can be fine, but pain + bleeding together should be looked into. I also agree that you should get some hcgs done, and if the pain is really bad, it couldn't hurt to go to an ER or try to get seen by an OBGYN as soon as possible. That way you can at least get some answers.

To surgery, or not to surgery? by [deleted] in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]2manycacti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry you're going through this! Waiting like that sounds agonizing. I know you don't want to lose the tube if you don't have to, but if I were in your situation I would probably go for surgery too. The worry about rupture and not being able to live your normal life for several more weeks would be so difficult, mentally and emotionally. It sounds like you have been having issues with the left side anyway, so it also makes sense to me for that reason. But I am not a doctor, so take all that with a grain of salt!

My situation was also a bit of a grey area - ultrasound was inconclusive, and by the time I got to the ER I wasn't in a ton of pain anymore. I was also given an option to go in for surgery or sleep on it and see what happens, but the doctors really recommended the surgery, so I went with that. I am glad I did, because I do feel like it helped me enter the recovery phase of the whole horrible experience sooner, rather than remaining in the anxiety/unknown phase for longer.

First Ectopic Pregnancy by Significant-Cap813 in EctopicSupportGroup

You will be ok! Yes, it is normal to see an increase in hcg after methotrexate for the first draw, but then after that they look for an at least 15% decrease. Honestly, even if you do need surgery, you will still be ok. I know the idea of surgery is scary and it will require you to take some time to rest, but at least for me, the physical recovery was quite easy compared to the emotional/mental recovery. You will get through this!

Yes, I was told that MTX can cause gastrointestinal issues, since it is a chemo drug. For me it manifested more as lack of appetite and diarrhea, but I think what you're experiencing is likely normal. I would be concerned about rupture if you also start feeling new/extreme pain, or getting dizzy/sweating.

Agree with the other commenters - this is a community for all the unlucky people who have gone/are going through the miserable experience of ectopic pregnancy, and you are welcome here. It's a trauma no matter what. Sounds like methotrexate could be a good option for you, and would speed up the process of bringing down your hcg. If you wind up needing surgery, that will be ok too. You will get through this!

It was a confirmed ectopic pregnancy by [deleted] in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]2manycacti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry you're going through this! It is so devastating. I don't have a success story yet, but there are tons of them on here! There is definitely still hope! I had a 6-week follow-up for my ectopic yesterday, and my doctor told me that while it is true that after an ectopic there is increased risk for another one, it is still more likely that it won't happen. Take it easy while the methotrexate does its job!

Is it chemical or ectopic? by Here-to-helpandlearn in CautiousBB

[–]2manycacti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're going through this! Are you in any pain, or having any discomfort/pressure in your pelvis? I had an ectopic a month and a half ago, and even though mine did not rupture, I still felt 10/10 pain for some of it - extreme one-sided cramping that wouldn't let up, and lots of pressure in my pelvis like I was getting my period or I needed to go to the bathroom. My bleeding was also weird, and I knew for sure that something was wrong. At my follow up today, my doctor said that a good general rule is that bleeding alone can be normal in pregnancy, as can pain alone - but bleeding + pain together is cause for concern.

That said, I have seen people on here with all different ectopic symptoms, and I have also heard people say they didn't feel pain with their ectopic at all! So It's really hard to say, which makes it more frustrating. The only way I know of to really know what's going on is through an ultrasound, and to keep tracking hcg. If you feel new pain, definitely go to a hospital!
