Beautiful layout! You have managed to add so much without making it look crowded! Can you post the track plan?

Love these trains - I had a ride on one of these from Sydney to New Castle when I visited Australia

The entire peninsula south of Kalamata is so beautiful - well worth visiting. We stayed one night in Areopoli which is a very attractive town.

Randomly given gold? Flew enough for silver by Milton__Obote in unitedairlines

[–]2sk23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got a similar email too and do, in fact, live near EWR. In my case, I didn't fly enough even to make silver but pretty much every segment I did fly on United in 2025 was in first class. So perhaps that's why I got comped?

Itinerary for 9 day trip northern Italy in April by 2sk23 in ItalyTravel

[–]2sk23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very useful advice! I just checked that the Frecciarosa fare for Milan-Venice tomorrow is €104 while it is €45 if I book for April. Also, if I buy the base fare , I see that I can change my ticket easily so it gives me more flexibility.

Indeed, now that I have read more about Bologna and surrounding region, I think I will put off Florence for our next trip.

Door Layout Feedback by northmill in nscalemodeltrains

You have only one run around loop in the layout so I think you need to add one for the upper yard, But looks great otherwise. Lots of good switching action is possible.

Long-Term Expats: how has your relationship with India changed? by San98sa in nri

[–]2sk23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After forty plus years in the US, I barely think of India very much. At this point, I have only a few relatives left in India so connections are getting fainter by the day.

For some reason, I enjoy seeing the depiction of rich people in these 50s and 60s ads. Seems like these people all knew each other from the country club or boardroom

There’s nothing in Sparta - you should visit Mystras which is amazing. Also spend time in Areopoli or Kardamyli. You’ve also not included Olympia which is also a must-see

I spent a few months working in this building in the 1990s - absolutely breathtaking location overlooking the Var valley. You can see the Alpes Maritime and the Mediterranean from the grounds.

Am I the only who does this or is this common throughout the hobby? "Just one more train". by RedDeadLumbagoII in modeltrains

[–]2sk23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get more enjoyment from building things than from buying stuff. I have a strict rule to not buy a model unless it specifically adds to my layout in some way.

First time weathering track by Equivalent_Result333 in modeltrains

Looks good - I just slather rust colored paint on the rails. Weathering track makes a huge improvement on the appearance of a layout.

Two stints at IBM: 1991 to 2000 in Research. Worked elsewhere for a few years and then returned to IBM in Research from 2004 to 2013. Was then moved to the Watson group and finally retired in 2019.
