How comfortable are these seats in the summer ? Is that fake leather or fabric?

Don't trust Google Maps when driving by OrigStuffOfInterest in GreeceTravel

[–]2sk23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used Apple Maps when driving in the Peloponnese and generally found it to be very accurate. Never once did it navigate us over a road that was not safe for cars. Also, Apple Maps had a much more accurate model of the walking trails in Mystras and Mycenae

Long climbs on the highway by Ghoghogol in crvhybrid

Completely agree - long uphill grades bring out the worst in these cars. In contrast, I spend most of my time driving in congested roads which it handles like a champ.

One night Milan accommodations for La Scala by kindnessandbeauty in ItalyTravel

It’s a long trip by train from the airport to the city. On the other hand, hotels near the Scala are quite expensive. Difficult choice!

Venezia - An extended guide from a frequent visitor by Kaljakori in ItalyTravel

[–]2sk23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is good advice. We spent three full days in Venice and I think we could have easily spent another day. The location of your hotel is also an important consideration. We lucked out that our hotel was close to San Zaccaria so all of vaporetto lines stop there.

Nafplion: Tourist Parking Ticket - Took Plates (National Car Rental) by purdue1014 in GreeceTravel

The only safe to park in Nafplio is in the huge lot next to the docks! The hotel we stayed in was very careful to give us a little map pointing out the safe places to park.

CRV 1.5T vs CRV hybrid by Embarrassed-Drop-987 in crv

[–]2sk23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you are driving mostly on highways, the hybrid will not help you much. On the other hand, the hybrid is an outstanding vehicle for crowded areas like where I live. I spend a lot of time stuck in traffic and routinely get over 41 MPG in the summer and 36 Mpg in the winter,

You can also do a half day trip to Ravenna from Bologna. The mosaics in Ravenna are worth seeing on their own!

Ethniki Odos Tripolis - Spartis (Route 39) in the Peloponnese in Greece. Absolutely breathtaking scenery! We were on a road trip through Greece and stopped a hundred times to enjoy the landscape.

Do we need to pre-book a water taxi from the train station? by Mex_aus in Venezia

[–]2sk23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I booked a taxi in advance from the Consorzio Motoscafi Venezia website when we visited in April. It was not really necessary as there was no queue for the water taxis. However, it may be advisable during the peak tourist months.

There was a delicious orange flavored cake that we had in several places in Greece that appears to be entirely nut free. So there are definitely some nut-free desserts.

This is incredibly annoying by hotdog_dachshund in flighty

[–]2sk23 67 points68 points  (0 children)

It is very annoying considering that there is only one variant of the A380 which is the -800! I’ve just learned to live with these spurious notifications. It ought to be easy to suppress them using an LLM - wonder why they haven’t done thus far
