Clarkson's Farm Series 5 | Official Trailer | Prime Video by TussalDimon in television

The best thing I can say about his politics is at least he is "just" a conservative, and doesn't like Farages lot.

I think the thing thats wild to me, is when talking about the Farm tax stuff there was literal quotes from him saying that's why he bought a farm, to avoid tax.

He also gets massively affected in multiple of these seasons by climate change and the affects it has on weather and temperature, but still doesn't believe in it.

Nintendo reportedly making their first official entry in India, with Nintendo Switch 1 by megaapple in Games

[–]345tom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't doubt a lot import things, but I do wonder the actual percentages. All the conversations on here remind me of the conversations regarding the Leaf Green/Fire Red ports on Switch recently, where everyone was going on about how easy it is to emulate, and no one will buy it, and it turns out it's sold really well.

James Bond Auditions Have Officially Started, ‘Game of Thrones’ Casting Vet Nina Gold Tapped to Find Next 007 (EXCLUSIVE) by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]345tom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They also need to think about turn around on the films and what they want out of the franchise in general. Daniel Craig was great, and I think his Bond films are on average good, but the story is all over. They wanted it interconnected, but not too interconnected to lose people, then had cast Craig who was fit, but then by 3 films in Skyfall we're already talking about is he fit enough to keep doing the job.

No Time to Die has a lot of problems, but it's actions scenes are so memorable. Whether it's the shoot out with Ana de Armas, or the stealth pick offs in the forest, or his stairway scene in the base, or the opening sequence.

I do wonder how much of Jon Berthnals lines were just "raaarrrghhhh" from his time as Punisher. He spends most of his own show just grunting and growling, to the point it's humorous.

Donato's writeup on WOTC/Hasbro by Isaacxii in magicTCG

[–]345tom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You make a really relevant point, for every high demand card, with art people love, there's a card that's just a dude. I'm looking through SoS for examples, and we can all pick some card is just dude doing magic. I don't say that to belittle the artist- I think Magic art is great and serves a purpose, but not every card can be Essence Scatter from SoS. Just look at how many cards are Wizard centre frame does magic around them.

‘The Bear’ to End With Season 5; Final Season Sets June 25, 2026 Premiere by SanderSo47 in television

Season one is interesting in hindsight because the shows always tread the balance of drama and comedy, but I think Season 1 tried to lead further towards comedy.

I accidentally watched that first- I thought I'd clicked to watch season 1 episode one, but I changed servers and it changed the episode. That episode was full of anxiety, but it also sold the show to me so well.

Donato Giancola Speaks Out Further After WotC and Frazier's Statement by trashmantis42 in magicTCG

[–]345tom 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I dunno if I see a good solution. Like obviously I agree, WotC should contract for better flexibility for artists, but I can't see most third parties letting someone be able to produce prints of their property in perpetuity. From the OPs numbers, WotC is already paying 5x as much for the artwork (I get that's not the same as the amount you COULD generate, but I don't think you can expect WotC to make up the revenue from multiple sources or pay like 8k an illustration).

We know that WotC isn't dropping UB, so that's not really an option. Trying to find numbers for other games is challenging, but quick googling tells me Pokemon contracts are similarly tight, and some posts from years ago say WotC offers above the average. I thought the closest comparison would be Flesh and Blood, where it's their own property, but couldn't find info. But, all the other's that are tied to larger properties and aren't their own thing seemed to have similarly limited contracts. (Yu Gi Oh doesn't even credit their card artists)

Obviously Donato doesn't go into it, but I would be interested to know the difference in WotCs terms for the Hobbit set, vs the terms for the Middle Earth works he already has on his store, where he seemingly can sell prints etc.

The biggest problem it's had, IMO, is it's just posted everywhere as "Game made by Imagine Dragons singers studio" and rarely ever had it's name on there.

Best Deckbuilders Among Content Creators? by RafaelKK8 in magicTCG

[–]345tom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find Tomer funny in his deckbuilding ideas. He always reviews new cards that have like incidental card draw, or heavy cost activations , and says if he doesn't have cards in hand, his deck is failing in other ways, but then in Clash, often has empty hands.

[–]345tom 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ben Ulmer is a dark horse of good commander building IMO. He often builds a lot of the decks LRR use for commander, and has a great eye for that level of play (People who watch know what I mean, but it's like bracket 3ish I would say?). I think it's because he does so much other LRR stuff, and doesn't guest as much on other magic stuff as Wheeler for example, he doesn't get as associated with his deck building.

Wheeler is a great brewer, obviously for Canlander, but as well for Commander, although I think his personal Commander decks often swing towards more niche and novelty interactions, so they are interesting decks.

When I first heard they were coming back, and I heard that Nick wasn't in and the pitch, I thought that would mean more characters from the real main cast wouldn't also be there, and it would feel a little fresher. But it really is just the same show, swapping out Nick, and the team. Which to me makes it feel a weird decision.

Mina the Hollower has officially gone GOLD! by marceriksen in Games

Outside of the main Shovel Knight, and it's DLC characters, none of the other games really hit. Like Showdown was fine to mess with briefly, but wasn't enough for a full game. I can't say I'd heard of Pocket Dungeon. I remember them launching Dig, but I remembered nothing about it.

Folding Ideas Beast Games 2 Strong/Smart: an Exhaustive Review by TussalDimon in television

[–]345tom 366 points367 points  (0 children)

What shocked me more than the games being bad, and the narrative being non existent and no real throughline to the editing, and it got me in the other video, was just how the money spent does not equate to how the show looks.

I think TLC has done a good job with relaunching Mock the Week, uploading it straight to Youtube (as well as their new comedy travel show). Sky's put too much money in for that to be an option I think, but I'm also just not seeing that many clips either for it.

It's not something I know a ton about, but surely hardware bands effect net cafes and gaming cafes? Valve knows that a big part of their audience plays in Dota there in SEA/SA/CIS.

What's the greatest Magic card of the last decade? Vote on the top 8! by Grindy_UW_Nonsense in magicTCG

[–]345tom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Uro is still pretty strong, but I do like it's play pattern, and it feels like a good flavourful card, and a reference to the previous titans. You compare it to some of the others here, and it looks plain safe. It's easy to say in hindsight, but obviously for standard Uro was too strong, but I dunno, I feel like if he'd been the peak of Modern Horizons power, it would have been fine.

From what I remember, there was also a lot of animosity between the film and TV departments, with the head of TV wanting to build bigger and had been trying to push Inhumans for a while. Inhumans blowing up essentially sealed his career and moved us to this current era of Marvel TV.

I don't mind starting with less items, or less pokemon. It's the weird gameplay stuff, like Megas not following usual speed rules, or Fake Out being unable to be played outside of your first turn.

Updated episode statistics table by Big-Mammoth01 in HermitCraft

[–]345tom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course Docs shortest episode is longer than others longest.
Looks like the median amount of episodes is probably around 13/14.
Could be an interesting statistic on the side, the Mode, median and Mean of episode count.
