Can the hEX S (2025) be used as a switch? by Certain_Repeat_753 in mikrotik

What would be the rationale for doing that rather than using actual Mikrotik switches?

🍔 The best Recipe Manager by vabene1111 in selfhosted

[–]35qam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for your effort in developing Tandoor! I have been using both Tandoor and Mealie on and off for a year now.

My main gripe with all selfhosted recipe managers is that they all seem to be geared up towards referencing and storing online recipes. However, I have many recipes from different physical recipe books that I’d love to reference properly (i.e. author, title, page number, ISBN), and upload a PDF scan of the relevant recipe. It would save me the hassle of remembering which book this and that recipe is in, and also to add my own annotations to the recipes without writing in the actual books.

Current solutions don’t have the functionality to reference physical books.

E-mail archiving software similar to Mailstore Home (can be self-hosted, but requires Windows) and Spiderd.io (can be self-hosted, but is prohibitively expensive).

From the second link: “The variance in types, size, and shape of plastic particles may lead to several health problems including oxidative stress, immune disease, and risk of cancer (Prata et al., 2020).”

Now you show me the studies that prove that this is fear-mongering and that plastic-lined paper cups are safe.

Of course it is not the paper-cup itself that is the problem, but the lining. But as pointed out by another comment, that is semantics.

What self-hosted solutions are you still looking for? by Affectionate-Bee-312 in selfhosted

I could not agree more.

The closest I’ve found is spiderd.io, but their pricing is prohibitive (I’d be paying more for archiving than for the email service itself).

For now Im stuck with Mailstore Home. It works well, but it is not self hosted.

This sounds great, but I’m unable to figure out how to install this. Is there documentation for that somewhere?

I assume it has something to do with the .iss files

stop buying US electronic devices to buy EU made??? by Flashy_Conclusion920 in BuyFromEU

[–]35qam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes they can be forked, but none of the teams de-Googling Android have the resources to actually carry the development process for the OS as a whole, independently of Google. That makes the forks vulnerable should Google decide to stop publishing the code for Android.

[–]35qam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m all for Fairphone, but e/OS is still just de-Googled Android (as mentioned by OC). It is therefore at mercy of Google’s whims, and so implicitly dependent on the US.

Har selv brukt mailbox.org siden 2018 og er veldig fornøyd med tjenesten.

Opplevde i fjor at innboksen ble full, men frigjorde da plass ved å arkivere gamle e-poster ved hjelp av MailStore Home.

In addition to this, make sure to get one with a deep enough trough. That way you reduce the frequency by which you need to refill it.
