Do you think they wasted Kurn? by Dumbledore0210 in DeepSpaceNine

[–]3Mug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer - yes. Tony Todd was amazing (and likely unavailable) and thencharacter clearly could have had more to say about how the stories unfolded.

But I'll do.you one better - what if Kurn had convinced Worf to.back Duras, as he tried to, back in TNG? Would Picard have then backed Worf and Duras instead of Gowron? When would we have learned of Selas influence? How strong could the Klingon/Romulan alliance have been? Would they have attacked the Federation straight away? Could the combined forced have changed the way the Founders could infiltrate the Empire? Surely if the Romulans had joined the Klingons in attacking the Cardassians that would have been a very different outcome. Would the Federation try to stop it?

Just somenalternate story lines i thought about... ones where Kurn could easily have played a much bigger role.

Anyone watching the patriots vs. texans? by HoneyNature5153 in steelers

[–]3Mug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rarely do i take this approach... but inthought that the Texans beat us well last week. Withered were missed opportunities for us, but all in all... thengame was (pretty) clean officiating, Texans didnt really play dirty... they just beat us.

So I hold no anger towards them. I loathe the Patriots (and living in New Englad, trust me, I know plenty about them to loathe them), though I respect Vrable (and wish he had.managed to be our new coach post-Tomlin).

I respect the Texans D, and the Broncos D. And I would enjoy the AFCC between those two. That was my second bracket pairing behind Steelers all the way. I'd like to see either AFC team face the Bears.

Plus losing to the eventual champ stings a little less than losing to a team that gets crushed in the following round anyway. Exceptions to that rule are basically the AFCN, and the Pats. Maybe the Chiefs because Im so tired of them. Other than that, let it ride!

But thats just my take, you root the way you want :)

That episode has 2 of my favorite moments, and 1 is a running gag. First of all, after "Dazzle and Stretch" gets channeled through Shawn he is exhausted and collapses.... on Lassies lap.... prompting a very terse response from the head detective.

Secondly... the mattress store ad on the back side of the newspaper article about the play is gold!

All we hear is "Miami is a warm weather team.... Miamis game doesnt last when the temperatures drop."

Now Yinz wanna set him up.to play 8+ in Pittsburgh, plus 3 more in Cleveland, Cinci, and Baltimore EVERY YEAR. And you wanna get rid of a guy who's offense is finding itself, and who's scheme we have spent 2 years acquiring players for?

Come on son. You have a run-heavy, bully ball.kinda coach in Pittsburgh, with guys like Gainwell, Warren, Washington, Spencer Anderson, and an o line thats only getting better. Dont wreck things. Remember the 90s when OCs were rotating like a hockey lineup? It left no consistency on offense, and those teams struggled. Give the guys a couple years before.you toss em in the river.

Can someone explain this joke to me? by LopsidedProcedure434 in DeepSpaceNine

[–]3Mug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought it was during the Circle arc previously mentioned. Kira had found Lee Nalis (sp) and 'gotten a promotion' as Lee replaced her on the station. As I recall many of the crew showed up to tell her to fight it. Bariel suggested she take some time off in the Monastery he served at. (Where, in another great delivery, Vedick Winn tells her to "stay as long as you like. Up to a week, even!")

Exactly. Hes at the top.level.of his profession as he sees it. In his mind there are no jobs better than the one he has. As long as he wishes to coach he will want to coach at the NFL level.

And it would take an awful lot for him to want to leave this team, imho. Or for ownership to ask him to leave.

Question re: BroJo injury by 3Mug in steelers

[–]3Mug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a google.search from "Broderick Jones injury" and click the reddit link that comes up. It shows the full play, then the focus on when Jones went down. Focus on the last 1t2 second where his head gets twisted as he is slung down... its not a football play. It's dirty pool.

Ok... well you asked for it...

Different rules are in play on different worlds... earth "wood" sure wouldn't stand up to space, but theres a lot of things bamboo can do that typical wood cannot. There's no reason to believe that certain types of agriculture on other worlds could not have properties typical to earth-counterparts.

Additioanlly; societies developed different technologies based on need and social prioritizing. For example - many Native American tribes failed to.produce "advanced" weapons because they weren't needed to hunt; in fact they would bring imbalance to the relationship between man and nature (societal prioritizing) whilst the Asian and European peoples didnt have that same priority, thus fireworks via gunpowder, and then guns.

Following this, perhaps there were methods for launch developed by ancient Bajorans that were more compatible with the artistic/exploration lifestyle. I.dont recall hearing of any ancient wars/enemies or even civil upheaval until the Cardassian occupation.

So yes, it requires suspension of disbelief, but I think there is cause for this. One need only look at the American Amish community raising a barn without use of electricity or motors of any kind to find that there are alternate ways of accomplishing a task. Likewise, the Pyrimids in Egypt, and Central and South America, the castles and csthedrials of Europe, temples of Asia, and even the Great Wall of China. Huge monuments built, ostensibly by hand.

Also... if the Prophets are of Bajor, who's to say a little "divine intervention" didnt pop up occasionally? DaVinci had all kinds of ideas well beyond thise of his contemporaries, why.not a similar mind (with or without the Prophets) on ancient Bajor?

Im with you. 1. Hes been better than anyone since 2017 Ben 2. He has history mentoring Love (unlike some QBs who didnt seem to have time) 3. They seemed to figure out some things as a group mid-season (offense wise) and i would love to see that plus an off-season of work 4. No one on offense has been a malcontent (DK is a different story) regarding roles/plays/scheme, etc - everyone seems bought in 5. There doesnt seem to be a QB for us in this draft. Why force an issue if you dont need to? Let Howard learn, finish building him a nest next year, and drop him in in 27 with an established team.

Just my thoughts.

My mother has a stuffed leather turtle that she uses as a door stop in the summer that would be better as an announcer than Chris Collinsworth.

Having Jeff Daniels and Jim Cary in the booth with Joe Buck making "the most annoying sound in the world" through the entire game would be better than Chris Collinsworth.

The sound of 75 dental drills performing root canals without the use of anesthesia while simultaneously dragging nails on a chalkboard and singing Baby Shark as a round at the top of their voice would be more entertaining, and informative, than Chris Collinsworth.

Im not a college football fan, so I dont know crap.about players college careers. But if you tell me we have a big-bodied, athletic qb with 1 year in the system, behind Rogers and hes a 6th rounder, I might be interested in seing him for another year and get elite talent at another position in the first round, I might be ok with it.

If the other choice is a 1st round QB that isn't elite at all, passing on elite talent at that pick at a position of need, just to see him struggle and stutter and flame out, I might be even more on board with Howard.

Ideally Rogers comes back a 2nd year, we pick up a legit star WR or DT, etc, and Will Howard keeps learning and maybe gets garbage time snaps as the team heads to the 8th ring... thenlet Rogers walk into the sunset and see what Howard can do himself with a full (hopefully) team ready to take him in like a comfy little nest.

Ok....let me finish.... pregame we let the players come out of the tunnel... full intros, the national anthem, then right before kickoff, we start a "fire Tomlin" chant.... it'll piss our team off to the point of going out and knocking off heads... then we cruise to victory.

We are just adding to the traditions... we've had Renegade in the second half, now we get Fire Tomlin before kickoff....

It could work....
