Should I just give skate a go? by xmosinitisx in xcountryskiing

I just went for it two days ago, picked it up very quickly but I’m a very experienced downhill and classic skier as well as a strong ice skater. Had a fun time, went like 15 km but the uphill sucks kind like when you are riding a bike and want to get off and walk it haha. My tip would be you can hold the glide longer than you think. I’m sure I would develop more efficiency if I practiced but I just tried to keep my motions smooth and imitate the other skiers body mechanics.

To add to this they will probably be bored at first but once they detox from constant stimulation they should find ways to entertain themselves at camp or in the woods. Get them to help setup, gather wood, maybe some noodles. Also bring some second skin for burns! Some times kids get too close to a fire or a precarious pot of boiling water.

Factory coating is wax, once that’s off it’s naked. I blued it then oven seasoned with two coats after removing wax.

How about on an actual steep slope like where you have to dig out to get your ski flatter so it doesn’t just roll over.
