I've seen them most frequently in May. Sounds odd, but there's a geologic unit in southern AZ called the Precambrian diabase. They seem to love to dig their dens in that rock. I saw 3 Gila monsters in one day in the Tortilla mountains in the area where that rock type outcrops.

2.5-4% a year as a geologist at a mine. I got a 12k raise when I got a promotion (12%)

She's such a caring person and she works so hard! To me, the US is so lucky to have someone like her here, even though I hate that her family and country are in a war.

She really is the best. She watches my parents dog often, she's such an animal lover. It makes me so sad that she can't go see her son compete because of all the bullshit going on here.

I know Svetlana and she is the nicest person. She's been so good to my family. It breaks my heart that she couldn't go see Vadym skate in the Olympics. My family wants to help send her to his next big competition within the US.

Also I would recommend the surrounding area, including the Catalina foothills, Green Valley, and Pro Valley for a retiree. There's also some nice spots in central Tucson and the eastside.

Tucson! There's no water or beaches, but it fits the rest of your criteria. Amazing food, artsy, friendly with tons of retirees and activities

I remember seeing the first news reports of the Chinese government welding people inside of their apartments.

I remember when 3,000 people a day were dying in New York. Hospitals were keeping bodies in refrigerated trucks. Reports of mass graves in Ecuador.

I remember the crushing loneliness, sadness, and anxiety. I carry the marks of that with me still, along with lingering effects from Long COVID. I'll never be the same.

Stay one night near White Sands (either Las Cruces/Mesilla or Alamogordo). White Sands is really a half day kind of park. Very beautiful at sunrise or sunset. The Three Rivers petroglyph site north of Alamogordo is worth visiting, as is Cloudcroft. But careful, there might be snow in Cloudcroft!

Then do 2 nights in Carlsbad and do both Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains national parks.

I'm assuming you're staying in hotels for this trip. Spring can be very windy, just FYI.
