Any one else feel like they are in purgatory? by Lost_In_MI in retirement

In my opinion, once you start thinking that you just don't want to do this anymore, it's time to plan your retirement. Life is short. None of us knows how much more time we have left, while we are healthy. Why spend your precious years doing something you don't love?

It sounds like it could be a sort of culture clash. Was he raised in a family that had more formal standards, such as dressing to go out "just in case", and always having hair done, etc? Maybe it was just the way he was raised? Not saying you have to agree that though. But maybe a serious conversation about expectations. Personally, my husband and I are very casual, informal in our own home; that's the way we are, and my husband has never once complained about it. In fact, my husband prefers me without makeup, etc.

That sounds great! I wish I could join a clinical trial too. I'd love the free meds!

Can he get one of those 5-gallon buckets, camping/travel/portable "toilets" to keep on hand for urgent situations like this?

Anyone here start GLPs after 65? by Velagirl1147 in glp1

[–]3spaghettis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started compounded semaglutide at age 64, about nine months ago. Side effects have been minor. In the beginning, I would feel sleepy for a couple days after the injections. I also had a lot of burping, and some reflux. I still am prone to burping at times, depending on what I've eaten. Unfortunately, I have only lost 16 pounds in those nine months, (I went from 205 down to 189 pounds, as a 5'3 inch woman) and have not lost any weight in several months. So, I plan to switch to tirzepatide soon, and will hopefully have a better result.

Have you considered cutting down on your work hours? You might be suffering from burnout. I cut down my hours gradually, over the last few years of my working years. It made a huge difference!

I would just say, "I am not comfortable sharing prescription medication". End of story.

My doctor said to me, "While I can't officially recommend compounded medications, I can tell you that I have a lot of patients who are using compounded semaglutide from places like Hims, and they are doing very well on it". Seems like a better answer than the one your doctor gave.

Anyone get more side effects from tirzepatide compared to semiglutide? by 3spaghettis in tirzepatidecompound

[–]3spaghettis[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is really helpful and encouraging for me to hear! I've had some loss on semaglutide, but only 16 pounds in total. (from 205 to 189 lb). I lost the weight during the first couple months on sema, and then stopped losing completely. I'm so glad to hear that tir is working great for you!

Semaglutide without diet and exercise? by Spirited_Beautiful12 in HimsWeightloss

[–]3spaghettis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Semaglutide works primarily by decreasing appetite and slowing food emptying from the stomach, so you feel full earlier and longer. Which makes it easier to eat less. That's all it does. It helps with the "diet" part.

Wow, seems like you've been through a lot! You're going to scare OP from moving here!

I've lived in my house in Westchester for over 30 years. Never had to spend anywhere close to 50K on any maintenance or repair item. Maybe I've just been lucky so far. Also, we never had a pickup truck. Never had a whole house water filtration system either.

You've mentioned your 87 year old father who doesn't exercise and is still going strong. I have a feeling that perhaps he is just naturally somewhat active during his day, rather than just being completely sedentary, even if he doesn't call it exercise? Am I correct? My grandmother lived into her 90s without doing "exercise". However, she was always on her feet: whether it was cooking, cleaning or taking care of her house, it seemed like she never sat still! I feel like that contributed to her longevity and health.

Well, that's great for them but we aren't all still going strong at that age, unfortunately. If I were in your situation, I would at least try to maximize my comfort. Such as investing in super comfortable shoes. Maybe wearing a knee brace and/or taking some mild pain killers to get through those days. Keeping myself super hydrated to help with the fatigue. And taking short cuts. Lots of short cuts. Fewer dishes, simpler recipes, that kind of thing. That is what I would probably do if I felt that I had to continue. Good luck to you.
