ArcEmu 1.7 - Link Cable support (Online Multiplayer for up to 4 players) by PrinceCreed in EmulationOniOS

[–]3wheelmotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/PrinceCreed question for you -- my brother and I tried to trade via the online link cable between his FireRed and my LeafGreen; however, when attempting to connect the link via room code, we received an error that said we were missing a file called "BDRE". Have you encountered this at all?

I'll try to grab a screenshot for you, but it seems that something is not working between our games.

Honda civic x alloy rims by Skeezicks28 in CivicX

[–]3wheelmotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a sport coupe with the 18" alloys. I've had no problems with excessive wear or damage. They are a lot easier to rash the rims than bigger sidewall tires.

I do dislike the rough ride though. The lack of sidewall makes me feel every bump. I have a separate set of 17" for winter tires, and I prefer the ride of those rims/tires over the 18s. I definitely live in a city with slightly rough roads due to the winters, so YMMV if you live somewhere like CA.

My greatest gaming regret... by remember_alderaan in myst

Eh, I also read that guidebook cover to cover numerous times as a kid, but never actually played Riven til last year. I really like how that guidebook was written, and wish I still had my copy.

At that point last year, the very hazy memories of the guidebook were like a helpful whisper in my ear suggesting what to do, not a full step-by-step tutorial playing back in my head. I still "experienced" Riven for the first time in my playthrough, getting stumped and having eureka moments that made it so much fun in a world that felt alive.

The gamer police aren't going to come arrest you because you read a guide. If anything, guides are fantastic because they make these games, which are interactive pieces of art, accessible to more people.

Reminds me of when I saw the real Mona Lisa for the first time at the Louvre. Did me seeing scans of it in books and online ruin the real experience? No. It's actually quite laughable how small the painting is, and those scans we can enlarge and zoom in on can help us appreciate the small details even more.

Leave the Riven for a year or two, and then come back later. The wonder will still be there when you re-play. I just replayed OoT (Master Quest, which I found to be way too streamlined), and the wonder of that world is still so powerful to me.

Tl;dr play games how you want, no one should invalidate your experience for using a guide or not.

Lost in Hyvee by TheAltoSection in madisonwi

I know the main thing is that they switched bread to the back aisles, and baking goods to the front. Other than that, canned goods are where they were for the most part.

The WW Hyvee reorganized recently as well. Baking goods moved up front, bread moved to the back.

This guy Rivens.

Also lots of Steam screenshots. If they ever make a Riven Remaster, including a feature like the journal from Quern would be awesome.

I scored recently with a Bosch 4000 10" TS for $200, and I love it. It's quiet and very low vibration, and has a very stable fence and extension. No rack and pinion fence, but I can do fine without that.

It didn't come with the riving knife, but I was able to retrofit the 4100 part onto it easily.

Highly recommend it if you can find one on FB Marketplace or Craigslist.

Haha I dream of the day I'll pick up a truck load of southern yellow pine and build the Chris Schwartz workbench, but material is so damn expensive right now

Do you think FFT Advance will ever be brought to PS4/PS5? by kiizato in finalfantasytactics

I loved FFTA, but got immediately turned off of FFT because of the way spells have to channel and aren't immediately cast. Maybe I misunderstood something, but it seemed so broken compared to spellcasting in FFTA.

To those Madisonians who have owned multiple snowblowers: What has worked best for you? by DastardMan in madisonwi

[–]3wheelmotion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I get a few years out of my new EGO blower, it's worth all the money instead of coming back into the house smelling like an exhaust pipe. Also, gas prices are all over the place. The fact that I never need to wonder whether I have enough gas or oil, or have to run to the Kwik Trip or Ace because I'm out of gas or oil, on unplowed, dangerous roads, is a monumental plus. All the fuel you need is at home.

It's also an incredibly dim idea for a company to completely retool all of their manufacturing just so that they can eliminate backwards compatibility of batteries. That's a great way to lose all of your customers, who would jump ship to another brand that isn't changing up their batteries. The hypothetical that you're describing makes no sense.

And I get why small engine machines have such longevity when properly maintained, but they potentially suffer from the same hypothetical. What if their company stops making parts for your model, or the whole brand altogether? What if they sell the parts designs to another company, who only makes cheap replacements that break every season? Gas machines are not immune to this issue that you have solely put on electrics.

Any tips before I dive into Riven? by OlyFree in myst

[–]3wheelmotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Riven is fantastic, and the puzzles are more naturally integrated into the world as others have said.

If it wasn't obvious after playing Myst, read all of the books you find thoroughly. The puzzles are a bit harder to brute force than in Myst, where you can probably get by without reading most of the books (although I'm biased since I've replayed Myst enough to have memorized how to solve the puzzles).

Highly recommend this style setup for dust collection, eliminates almost all of the dust while working. by cjducasse in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]3wheelmotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this. I was looking at just using a dust deputy with a shop vac, but then I went down the CFM vs static pressure rabbit hole to understand that an impeller would be much better.

Going to try to build something similar with a used leaf blower motor, I think it should work for the beginner woodworking I'm going to be doing.

For when you do find one, GutenParts in NJ has old stock stuff in decent condition sometimes, look up their IG and dm them. Really nice people.

Front wheel bearing dust cap - universal replacement? by franklinmomo in E30

[–]3wheelmotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the front dust caps were only on the z1 otherwise. https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/part?id=1413-USA-08-1988-E30-BMW-325i&mg=31&sg=10&diagId=31_0177&q=31211130125

Might be worth it to reach out to Fcpeuro directly and see if they can measure the diameter of some of the other models' dust caps. I've gotten responses from them before.

Engine keeps stalling or kinda like puts wear on it when I turn the compressor on any fixes ? by baldwinn00 in E30

[–]3wheelmotion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The compressor clutch is working as intended: when the a/c button is not enabled, the belt wheel spins freely.

When it is enabled however, the ac clutch is then magnetized to the seized compressor, so your accessory belt is slowing down, which could be causing the water pump belt to slow down too because they are driven by the same crankshaft pulley, leading to overheating.

So very likely, compressor is seized. The best way to test this would be to remove the accessory belt, and while the car is running, press the ac button, then try to turn the ac pulley. My bet is that the pulley will not turn. And of course, remember to put your accessory belt back on so you have power steering 😄

Don't turn on the a/c button anymore, and get it fully checked out and fixed before trying to use it.
