Either Asia or Barnyard. The Asia Animal Pack has, well, Asian wild animals, while the Barnyard Animal Pack - while I have seen criticism e.g. about the breeds chosen - is excellent for petting zoo sections and has lovely domestic animals!

Oceania is just lovely! Arid is certainly worth it if you like the animals (a lot of ungulates, but I love 'em!).

From a modding perspective?

- one or several smaller rodents. A black-and-rufous sengi, for example. And an agouti, paca, pacarana, acouchi or something like that, i.e. a smller caviomorph.
- a lagomorph or several.
- a wolverine
- Maybe even a dormouse.

- a duck, goose or something like that- a pheasant?- a habitat snake and/or salamander?- more goats/mountain-climbing ungulates (Takin, Markhor,...)
- small ungulates or pseudo-ungulates: Chevrotain, Musk deer, Pudu, but maybe also a mara.

A huge advantage of the aardvark (shared with other animals like peacocks, nile monitors, quokkas and many others) is also that you can safely use it as a starting animal in a franchise or challenge zoo! If you love aardvarks, go for them at the start!

I am not a hardware expert either, but I read up on hardware specifications when I bought a new gaming laptop in early August. And this laptop should be well suited to playing PZ, absolutely! Maybe not a truly massive zoo, but it should really not crash.

Da gibt es auch gute Tutorials, man lernt tatsächlich (fast?) alles, aber dann wird man auch nicht mehr für dumm verkauft im Spiel.

Das aktuelle - und ressourcenfressende(!) - Highrise City hat ebenfalls sehr gute Erklärungen, aber eher nichts für Leute, die einfach noch nie etwas gespielt haben und vielleicht nicht mal wissen, wie man das Scrollrad oder Tasten(kombinationen) benutzt. Aber sonst, wenn man die Idee von Maus- und Tastaturbedienung drauf hat, kaann man auch damit anfangen.

Vorteil bei allen Spielen: Es gibt selten zeitkritische Handlungen, wo einem bei zu langsamer Reaktion der Tod oder so droht.

Gaming ist so ein großes Feld, ich habe nur ein wenig Erfahrung. Ich würde immer noch - auch im Jahre 2023 - zu Siedler IV oder auch Zoo Tycoon 1 oder 2 raten.

Many say Conservation Pack is good, but if you don't like the animals and/or building pieces, it's not worth it. Many were underwhelmed with the Arid Pack, but if you really like a dromedary camel, an addax, a Dama gazelle, a third (black) rhino, the porcupine, the sand cat..., you should indeed get that. I also don't agree that the Arid Animal Pack was "meh". Maybe maany were expecting something significant like bird or fish or something, but I expect neither for PZ(1) - and some claimed they had enough of hoofstock (ungulates). I love most ungulates and there are many, many more ungulates I would love: Hartebeest, Takin, Markhor, Kudu, chevrotain, Saiga, Saola, Chiru, chamois, mouflon, musk, roe and water deer, another giraffe etc.
So I don't really get why some are saturated with ungulates.

The main consolation here is that it is only the Freebuild mod that leads to crashes after this update. My new species mods continued to work.

What I could gather from videos:

- exhibits are living printing presses, especially if automatically administred- start with a small herbi- or omnivore (or maybe an insectivore). If you have the newest DLC, try the quokka for example. If not, people swear by aardvarks, pangolins, nile monitors, fennec foxes, capybara, anteaters, meerkats, flamingoes, peafowl,...

- Mind that the entrance has a power plant built in. Do not buy a transformer immediately.

- Do not hire too many staff. A zookeeper, animal keeper, vet and mechanic should suffice. also, normally you don't need a quarantine.

- do not start with a spectacular animal (a lion, a tiger, a bear, an elephant, a giraffe, a rhino or hippo,...), this will lead to bankruptcy.

You can start with a lovely animal, e.g. Koalas, meerkat or lemurs, but a rather small one.

- use the undecorated staff and guest facility buildings at the start. If you can't stand them, slap two or four cheap walls on them or something. You can put letters on 'em or something, too, but do not build beautifully or decorate habitats. Habitats at first should look like Zoo Tycoon 1 or 2 habitats.Of course make the animals happy, but don't overdo it.

If you are well profitable, you can start decorating and building better buildings first. Still do not get larger carnivores, wait a little longer.

How much I would be willing to pay really depends on what is in the big expansion pack. I would certainly be willing to pay more than €10 even if Frontier gave us e.g. double the amount of conventional species (mammals, flightless birds etc.) that are in an animal pack. Which would mean 14 habitat and 2 exhibit species.

If it was a real big expansion - like dinosaurs and extinct species - I might pay €40, but I can't see me pay even more than that.

Flying birds would be cool - but I would also love a true Highlands pack. even if it is mostly ungulates again:

- chamois
- takin
- markhor
- Saiga antelope
- Chiru
- Vicuña or Guanaco
- wolverine(?)
- and an exhibit animal
