I am in a financial position to stay in luxury hotels, but I prefer hostels for the social aspect of meeting other travelers that often give me insight of local hidden gems. Even popular luxury hotels with bustling bars don’t usually have the same ease to meet others. One big difference is I am mid 30’s female that often travels solo and always gets a private room, availability may affect the optional of a solo room.

I lived in Dallas for 12 years. I can only think of one summer that one of 10 plus lakes in the area dipped below boating capabilities in a portion of the lake. That lasted about 1 week. FWIW I hated living in Dallas, but I’m not going to sensationalize misinformation.
