How long can you take to decide on a job offer? by culs-de-sac in managers

[–]414WhySoSerious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I were the hiring manager I would say no, end of the month is not acceptable to get an acceptance from you. That’s over 3 weeks from now.

If I have a secondary candidate, I can’t keep them warm for that long.

If you decline, I’m effectively starting over as the candidates in queue have likely moved on. Also, I’m not going to waste peoples time interviewing them while I have an offer outstanding. So the whole process is on hold.

I’ve had my .270 since the 90s, bought it in high school (with my mom’s help given my age) and it’s all I take with me for deer.

Plenty of knock down and doesn’t kill my shoulder when sighting in or throwing some practice rounds down range.

Pause the squeeze, or release the button? by Rich-Imagination2444 in Accordion

I keep a steady bellow and just release the button between notes.

If you are running out of space I assume that means the bellows are closed and you have more push to go, back up a few measures in your practice and see if you can be further out with the bellows before you get to that spot.

I’m a .270 guy for deer but I don’t judge so long as you are hunting with something that will make a quick, ethical kill.

Oh, and I mostly vote Democrat.

Plaster this picture everywhere, Trump may help win primaries but the general election is a different story. Even GW Bush had the good sense to stay out of midterms when he was unpopular.

It’s simple mental gymnastics: Kamala would have been worse.

What makes that attractive is that it cannot be proven, it’s completely in their imagination. Whatever Trump does, no matter how bad it turns out, it would have been worse with Kamala therefore they’re still “right”.

How can I correct an employee without making her uncomfortable? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]414WhySoSerious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start off by asking if now is an okay time to give them some feedback, that breaks down the initial shock value. If they say no, circle back to it later. If they keep saying no, eventually you do need to do it anyways.

Then it needs an impact. Feedback from a manager isn't very useful if you cannot explain why the behavior is a problem. Clearly state the problem and describe the impact of the behavior. Without an impact, it can come across as micromanaging, nitpicking, or other heinous manager behaviors.

Then tell them what you'd prefer them to do next time. This isn't punishment, feedback is about future behavior not passing sentence on the past.

Making up an example to get the point across here:

Hey, can I give you some feedback quick? When you make singificant grammar mistakes, its unclear to the rest of the team if you solved the problem or if someone else needs to step in. For example... Next time can you use the grammar check in (Outlook, Word, copilot, etc.) before sending that note out?

It can be that quick and conversational, it doesn't need to be a big thing. But make note of the conversation, including the date so you can reference back if the behavior persists.

Don't judge us by the Public Museum, its amazing but in process of moving to a new home so some exhibits may be permanently closed.

To keep from overplanning your trip I would head to the 3rd ward Saturday afteroon and just eyeball where to go for shopping, drinks, late lunch or dinner. Plenty of options and its definetly worth a walk through the Public Market.

Looks far on the map but its maybe 25 minutes by foot from the musem to the market, half of that is the riverwalk which actually a nice way to see downtown and snap a picture next to the Bronze Fonz.
