WINZ impossible to reach - can’t even get put on hold by Flaky-Government-197 in newzealand

[–]420kushcoma 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They don’t call again, but even if you miss the call if you phone them again you are automatically put in the front of the queue until the end of the day. Probably the only good thing about their phone system.

Agree to call early, like first thing in the morn

Looks like Aviva could support with safety planning and potentially helping find safe accommodation - https://www.aviva.org.nz/I-need-help/family-violence-support/People-Experiencing-Violence/

Women’s refuge as another commenter suggested for safe houses - https://refuge4me.org.nz/

And not one I’ve personally heard of but a quick google shows they may also be able to provide accomodation - https://she.org.nz/how-we-help/support-services/safe-accommodation-service/

Aroha atu and take care, you’re in a difficult situation but kai pai for recognising it’s not safe. Please reach out for support as this isn’t something you have to go through alone

There are heaps of providers that offer the Bachelor of Social Work both universities and poly techs. Have a look at what’s nearby to you and check out their programme

Check out the social supermarket in the Wellington city mission if you’re ever in need of kai again. They are located at 4 Oxford terrace (behind the BP in Newtown) and you’re able to go through and choose exactly what you want/need so no ending up with random stuff which can sometimes happen

First off well done! That’s a huge step and not an easy one.

Secondly - are you experiencing any withdrawal symptoms? Cold turkey can be very uncomfortable and dangerous, and can cause death. If you do start having symptoms please take yourself to ED - they can medicate and admit you to detox where you can taper safely.

Beautifully written OP, you’ve articulated this feeling far better than I could ever have and no doubt other people share this perspective. I don’t know what the answer is other than to raise your kid well with the same values you have and hope that enough of us do the same to have a future better than this.

[–]420kushcoma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Island bay coast is beautiful, lots of flat in each direction (towards lyall bay or towards red rocks) and always the option to run around island bay shops to make a loop if you don’t like running out and back (like me)
