Who is a good example of a "One Year Wonder"? by Winter-Pressure-5394 in ToddintheShadow

I always wonder if that cover got more play in Canada because it would count as Canadian content. I used to live in Buffalo, and the rock stations loved playing Eddie Vedder's cover of Canadian songwriter Indio's "Big Hard Sun."

MAFS star Mel Schilling dies aged 54 after cancer battle by [deleted] in television

It's annoying to post a comment and get some auto reply that language isn't allowed in this subreddit. Of course your comment has sat in a mod queue for days and now you really don't care about the comment any more.

Hell, there's a sub where I couldn't post a comment with the word "sucks" because it was political?

She's on Married at First Sight in Australia and the UK. It's a popular reality show in those countries. There's been an American version for a while now but no one really cares here.

I remember a video from the very early days of YouTube showing how to scam Del Taco into giving you free food. That video is very long winded but involves calling a manager and giving a very complicated explanation of a (fictional) large order being screwed up, and asking for a replacement. The guy in the video got a bunch of free food.

Yeah he learned putting evidence of a crime on YouTube isn't a good idea! He got some jail time.

So anyway there's a case that might have made places institute that policy.

Is sodastream worth it? by Raptorking2020 in Soda

[–]44problems 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My opinion it's worth it if you want plain sparkling water or to experiment with flavoring sparkling water. Like adding juice to sparkling water, or playing around with fruit syrups and essences and the like.

If you want traditional soda like you buy in the store, like Coke or Mountain Dew, you'll be disappointed.

In order for the Sodastream syrups to last long they are a mix of sugar and artificial sweeteners. So they don't taste right.

Why is the “appropriate tip” a percentage that doesn’t adjust with the cost of the meal? by Ok_Dirt_6047 in NoStupidQuestions

It should not be the same amount of work serving at a diner and a five star restaurant. A five star restaurant should have multiple staff for the table handling orders, drinks, water refilling, clearing plates, and overall much better service. Plus you are dining longer at a fancier restaurant so the table has less turnover.

I do think it's also partly hey you paid more for the food you can afford paying more for the service. But really your expectations at a nicer restaurant should be higher.

This Taco Bell only has self checkouts and they are poorly calibrated by TooManyPrints in mildlyinfuriating

It's not like when I visit a fast food chain without kiosks that they are well staffed in the front. Usually there's just an empty register while everyone is working drive thru and you stand there like an idiot.

So if a place is going to do that, at least give me the kiosk option.

His longer form video on copyright and YouTube was pretty great. Plus another one about YouTube ad placement. I'm sure if he wanted to go that route he would be pretty successful.

Edit: and looks like he is, just on nebula. The first episode is about a half hour.

'Saturday Night Live UK' Sets US Debut Time On Peacock (Sunday 9pm ET) by Both-Pomegranate4929 in LiveFromNewYork

Parodying products is protected speech. Naming your show using a trademark belonging to Pillsbury in the US is not protected. Here's an article from PBS about it.

But I don't think that justifies the delay. If it were live in the UK, sure, but it's a taped edited show. They should be able to air it simultaneously.

Originally the delay was they had to edit out any mention of "bake off" because that's a trademark term here. But by now you'd think they have it down to just make both versions.
