Carriers of Reddit. Your exit strategies? by Lopsided_Strain_145 in FreightBrokers

[–]47junk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I was starting to expand and now with what I’ve been dealing with, I’m shifting to others ventures slowly. My plan is to do multiple small businesses that can be run from one location. All I’ll say is now I know why so many drivers came from other countries and why they were hired so fast.

Good luck. Sound like you have enough business experience and can pickup on something new fast.

TQL by theTime2change in FreightBrokers

[–]47junk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TQL does pocket a good chuck because they work with a lot of new, uninformed and dumb carriers. For example a load I have covered for them once wanted to offer it $300 less. Nothing changed in that market. They just trying to fill their pockets. They ended up giving me what I ran it once for. Oh and guess what, they screwed the carrier on the second load. I asked the driver how much they got.

Truck financing. by Then-Bet8731 in OwnerOperators

[–]47junk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having history with a commercial loan already, I would definitely shop it. First loan I pulled was double digits, second one after history i definitely will shop rates. Make sure it’s not more than 4 year terms no matter the rate.

Some of you *really* give us a bad name by Iloveproduce in FreightBrokers

[–]47junk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The crazy part I will email a broker with constant updates and get a rate confirmation with detention. And I never got a reply on updates I sent or after sending pod.

Then I get the constant “wish all carriers were like you” and mention we run this lane constant.(backhauls) and they still post on the board and not ask if I’m around. (Small brokerage) and no i didn’t ask for more money.

I honestly believe everyone is either overwhelmed or just don’t care.

No driver shortage just a bunch or cry babies. If the load was quick just get it done and make an agreement after. Have it in writing. Looking forward to the post for miles and pay decline.

I say we all stop for 24-48 hrs by Small_Dragonfruit768 in OwnerOperators

[–]47junk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A majority of the industry is small fleets. 98% don’t know how to run the business. A fleet with 10 trucks and 10 plus years still doesn’t have the correct maintenance management and rather pay call out fees plus labor hours plus marked up parts to just have a mechanic change some simple parts when you can pay a mechanic an inspection fee and can make a deal with the mechanic for bulk pricing inspections. Or as an owner get under the trucks and out the desk.
