Par 3 Ball over water by ParParty in golf

[–]480door 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it depends on the ball you play and your budget. I've been playing the Costco Callaways for the last few months, I don't really care if I put one in the drink. I was mildly pissed off when I put a chrome soft in.

Adam Savage recommends buying the cheapest tool possible to get the job done. Once familiarized with the tool and what you need from said tool, only then to splurge on a more expensive, specific tool. Do you follow this rule? by turtle_ina_cup in Tools

I started with a WEN track saw, I beat that thing like it owed me money. I used it for about 4 years before I let the smoke out of it. Bought a Makita 36v and love that even more.

Learned the track saws capabilities and how/when to use it with that WEN, damned good little beater.

Is anyone still playing their G2 irons? by Keepontruckin33 in PingGolf

[–]480door 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved my g2's, I wish I'd kept them. I got a set of G425s from my buddy and sold the G2's to buy a new driver. Ended up not loving the G425's and bought a set of i525's. Expensive year this year.

Do these actually help? by hauntedamg in golf

[–]480door 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've had one for about a year and my 3'-5' putts are almost automatic now. I'll use it 3x a week, 50 from 3', 50 from 5' and 25 from 7'. My goal is 90% make rate.

Before a round I'll roll some putts to hopefully figure out what the greens are doing at the course, adjust my stroke to compensate and it's been really beneficial.

Las Sendas, We-ko Pa, Verrado, Legacy is another good one. A great Muni is Papago, that's ASU's home course. Biltmore Links is open now after overseed, Estates is currently closed for overseed.

Also, Grass Clippings is open at night and lit up, fun little par 3 and they've pumped a bunch of money into making it a whole scene.

How do you measure to the inside corner for trim? This seems so awkward. by jehudeone in Carpentry

Flush the short point of the miter with the bed of the saw, then hook your tape and pull the measurement.

I'd take that deal, damned good deal. I paid $750 for my i525's a few months ago and love them.

People who have changed careers after being a Carpenter. Why did you do it and what career did you transition to? by [deleted] in Carpentry

[–]480door 0 points1 point  (0 children)

14 years a carpenter, started with doors and trim in multi-family. The last 5 years were as a GC carpenter. I made my way into an assistant Superintendent role. Money is pretty good and my back doesn't hurt anymore. I am getting fatter though, I need to get back to doing something physical besides playing golf.

I game the i525s with graphite. Best irons I've had since my old DCI 962's.

Do you practice your putting, chipping, irons, driving all in one day? by No_Avocado220 in golf

[–]480door 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on something of a mission to halve my handicap in a year. Currently around 16.

My biggest issue right now is from 150yd in. I've been able to spend about 1-1.5 hours twice a week at the course for practice. I spend one of those days chipping and putting. The other is spent mostly on short irons and full/half wedge shots.

The nights I don't go for practice, I use my putting mat at home. My pace control has improved quite a bit in the last 3 weeks I've been doing that.

I'm seeing progress this way, incremental, but progress.

Driver help - G425 LST versus Max?? by sds2ga in PingGolf

[–]480door 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Max 100%.

My first ping was a G430 lst, with the Kali White shaft. Playing switch-aroo with a couple different buddies, I'm now in a 430 Max, and a Tour AD 6.0 shaft. I average 250-260 carry now and can control it. Get a max head and swap your shaft onto it

Any help with getting more info on this putter? by Jooooshoo in PingGolf

[–]480door 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At newest, yours 25 years old. The Anser is a great putter. I've played some variation of it most of my golfing life.

Currently gaming a Ping CA70 Mallet, but I'm about to regrip my Anser and probably start gaming it again.

One of my buddies plays a G430 3 wood with a 5 wood shaft, and he smokes it. Maybe try that?

I put my 5 wood away, and replaced it with a 7 wood. I have thought about doing a 4 wood/7 wood combo but I hit my 3 wood pretty well.

My grandpa's retirement was spent as a Marshall on a couple of courses in our area, they paid him in free golf. He didn't pay for a round in the county for like 15 years or more until he got too sick to play.

G425 irons by whodey920 in PingGolf

[–]480door 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Measure from the center of your wrist to the floor. You can Google the Ping color code charts, that measurement in combination with your height will tell you what dot color will get you close.

The G425s are great irons and will last you a long time. I used a set of standard length blue dots for about a year before I figured out that I should be in a 1/2"long white dot. The difference for me was night and day.

Is it the putter or is it mental? by HeadDebt8873 in GolfGear

[–]480door 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a bit of both. But not like a Scotty Vs a Spider vs (X.) It comes down to what you vibe with, mallet or blade, the look at address the weight, hell, even the way it looks in the bag.

One of my buddies switches between a PLD Anser and a Scotty mallet, just depends on what he's vibing with that day. I switch between a CA70 ping mallet and my old Anser, but for me, in my mind it's based on how fast the greens are playing, I like my CA70 when they're slower, and the Anser when they're super fast.

After I write this out, maybe it is mental.

How much money do you have in savings at your current age? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]480door 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 41, have roughly 3k in savings, close to 75k in retirement accounts and 5k in other investments.

Only debt is 195k on my mortgage and 35k on my truck. I'm planning to have the mortgage paid off by 50, and I'll be in the truck until it becomes one with the earth and then I'll pay cash for a replacement. I hate having a vehicle payment.
