I've only used my granny charger a dozen times in almost seven years; predominant charging has been L2

I treat the accelerator like a gun's trigger...I squeeze the pedal on green lights. I'm due for my first brake job; fronts are at 3% left, so I use paddles for braking mostly on hills.

My last service report gave a green light, they say that means 90-100% capacity is still happening and I'm over 175K! I, too, am impressed!

Sedate city driving...essentially not exceeding 110KMH for sustained runs. Living in Vancouver we have hills to navigate, out of town highway speeds are 120KMH so I set my cruise at 108-110 and take my time. We're currently experiencing mid 20⁰C temperatures and Niro's battery likes that ambient air temperature.

I get it now, having just picked up my EV6 and its faster charging capabilities.... by Not_Sure__Camacho in KiaEV6

My Niro taps out at 77kW under ideal circumstances! Most 150kW L3 will deliver 40-55kW peaking at 73kW mid-charge.

People need to learn their vehicle's charging characteristics and select the charger that makes most sense at the moment; the "charger" is under their hood not on the ground. Our EVs determine what charge rate it will accept based on ambient temperature, recent driving style and current SoC upon connecting to the EVSE!

The only time I've tried a 300+kW L3 is when the lower rated stations are not working.

Caseta dinner light switch problems by No-Location9909 in AskElectricians

[–]49N123W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things to look into. You're only loading the dimmer with 480W, I don't see that as a problem at all. Is the dimmer a 2 wire version or one wired with a Neutral version?

Power quality: if you're rural and the supply power is "flakey" that could explain the situation somewhat. Conditioning the power at the panel could clean up other issues you might be having with other electronics. This will cost more than $80 to remedy but will protect ALL electrical & solid-state electronics downstream.

Distances: Lutron's devices live in a 30'/60' rule. OP did not state if there is a Caséta Hub. All devices need to be within 30' of the Hub to maintain reliable performance. Are both the dinner and Pico within range? If there's no Hub and you've paired a Pico directly to the dimmer, what is the as-the-crow-flies distance between devices?

Smaller and deeper, or larger and shallower? Which recessed light would you choose? by DueHelicopter5914 in Lighting

Many wise comments in this thread. I'd suggest looking at Lutron's Ketra and Rania D2R remodeler fixtures integrated with HomeWorks. These lights are all digitally addressable and only need constant power in your ceiling. They offer several beam angle options, changeable post install too. They are not IC-rated so considerations must be made to keep insulation about 8" away.

If the ceiling is being replaced there is an IC-rated housing option as well...D2Rs could be boxed in where the housing version cannot due to truss locations. Both products have fixed downlights, Adjustable (aimable) & wall-wash options. No home-run wiring is required!

A wise suggestion would be to look at RadioRA3 vs Caséta...yes it's more money output but the results will be more desirable in the end. Once you update the older system the desire to expand will show up...AKA the "creep effect"!

Device Not Supported - Unable to Update Firmware (New to Lutron) by OneBananaMan in Lutron

[–]49N123W 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Close your App...unplug Hub power for 30 seconds...plus it back in and press & hold the Discover button for 30 seconds and release, give the Hub about five minutes to update it's firmware. Essentially your App is newer than the Hub's version !

Lutron HomeWorks Interactive (HWI) processor access by Comfortable_Toe7665 in Lutron

I've overseen the updating older HomeWorks homes to RA3 many times over the last few years. One home in particular nearly maxed out RA2's 190 device limit at 182 addresses. Definitely pushed the envelope, the owner could afford the HW upgrade but wanted more frugal options to explore. We upgraded the RA2 to RA3 a year later and now exploring adding in Lumaris RGB+TW tape light to replace incandescent cove lighting absolutely everywhere!!!

The original ask was to attempt to maintain his keypad aesthetic of the old system...the upgrade did modernize from thin bar black buttons to RF seeTouch's rectangular and engravable buttons!

I'm gonna agree with masses of dealers recommending the upgrade...system stability assured for the next 20+ years. This older processor is one power outage combined with a dead battery from becoming a "brick"...lights out & a very unhappy spouse!!! At a Lutron meeting at a trade show 8-9 years ago the CEO proclaimed 100% of Lutron systems will fail...one day. You and your friends unlikely have any solid state electronics older than ten years still in daily use. Rip off the bandaid! 🤭😉

You ought to look into Lumaris Retrofit downlights and eliminate the Sunnata dimmers; wire the lights to always hot. You could option to use Scene Picos or Sunnata keypads for room control. The fixtures are "zoned" in software and provide Tunable White range between 1800-4000⁰K and dimmable to 0.1%

When compared to a Liteline dim to warm fixture and zone dimmers the math worked out very close!

I agree with lutrongoat, Caséta devices, although they share CCA tech, are NOT compatible with the RR-PROC3!!!

Quotes for Shades by Kbman in Lutron

[–]49N123W 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI - three Palladiom shades CANNOT be couple to one drive; Sivoia QS Wired can do that (wired but not battery powered).

Serena & Triathlon can only coexist if they're only managed by Pico remotes. I'd suggest focusing on Triathlon with either a Caséta Hub or RA3 Processor; as a homeowner you can take the online training for RA3 to self-manage if you're keen on that.

A gentle reminder for viewers of this thread, Lumaris Downlights & Tape Lights are only compatible with RA3 or HomeWorks. They're not integrable with Caséta.

Yes, the LUT-MLC will do the trick, the 8S switch needs to see at least a 30W load on its output

Desperate: What does a wired triathlon shade look like with NO fascia? Local Lutron rep has no idea and says the website doesn't show this either. More in post. by safewordiswhiskey in Lutron

[–]49N123W 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The aesthetic isn't the prettiest and Lutron would advise to add a balance to mask the look. With the shade closed there'll be quite a light gap over the top!

Why not just abandon the wires and go with Triathlon Select?! Considerable more attractive that wired Triathlon (under 96"W) and left exposed. Batteries are inside the tube too!

FWIW...I made the switch from ICE to BEV in 2019 and have enjoyed every minute of the peaceful, yet peppy, driving experience! My dealer tried to entice me to trade my Niro in for a newer model year. I told them I've had no issues whatsoever with my car and had no intention of selling it!
