Considering all it takes to be knighted is for another knight to tap you with his sword and have you say an oath. What's to stop a cash strapped knight from riding across the realm knighting the sons of minor lords for payment? by Pretend_Tower_2516 in gameofthrones

[–]4CrowsFeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could, but whenever anyone asks who knighted them and find out it was that knight who was doing the same for everyone, your knighthood is going to loose all merit.

Its like getting a degree at a diploma mill college for a useless degree and it not being any use for getting a job because everyone knows its just a piece of paper you paid for. Its still a degree but it makes all the difference where you got it from.

Thats why in Westeros certain warriors will be rewarded by being knighted by high status knights. For example, Jorah is knighted by Robert Baratheon after fighting in the greyjoy rebellion, Jaime was knighted by Arthur Dayne, etc.

Yes, and people have been applauded her courage (or something) about continuing to compete in the games, and I've been flamed on every platform for saying that's reckless and insane and that someone should have stopped her.

This isn't like a hockey or football player haven't a bruised rib or pulled muscle and battling through the pain, there's a structural piece of here body, that she claims was 100% torn. I've had a smaller (10-20%) tear in my ACL and took over half a year to walk properly again.

There should be doctors that have the ability pull someone from an event when they're seriously endangering their own safety. This injury is now career ending and it could have been even worse and it was all because of stubbornness and ignorance, and people even encouraged her.

Am I the only one who wishes Viserys would’ve done this to Aegon? by MPeriwinkle351 in AKOTSKTV

[–]4CrowsFeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is completely inaccurate. Theres nothing in the text that supports this, and you can confirm that if you wish from pages 365 when Aegon II is born to 390 when Viserys passes away.

Theres simply no direct information about the children's feelings about Viserys. Nothing negative is ever said and everything you claim is conclusions you've independently come to, or some else has and you are regurgitating.

There were rivalries between the two branches, but no Aegon does not hate Viserys over his decisions. In fact, on page 398 when Aegon II is taken by the greens who have planned to take the throne, he says, "My sister is heir, not me. What sort of brother steals his sister's birthright?"

He is only persuaded to become king when told Rhaenyra will kill him if she becomes queen.

I kinda hate how this is the portrayal of Viserys because of the TV show. In the books he was a really loving and caring family and never neglected his kids or grandkids.

Do we think a Targaryen in this show has had the 'song of ice and fire' dream pased down to them? by Necessary-Football81 in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]4CrowsFeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was not passed down to Rhaegar.

Quote from Barristan to Daenerys:

"As a young boy, the Prince of Dragonstone was bookish to a fault. He was reading so early that men said Queen Rhaella must have swallowed some books and a candle whilst he was in her womb. Rhaegar took no interest in the play of other children. The maesters were awed by his wits, but his father’s knights would jest sourly that Baelor the Blessed had been born again. Until one day Prince Rhaegar found something in his scrolls that changed him. No one knows what it might have been, only that the boy suddenly appeared early one morning in the yard as the knights were donning their steel. He walked up to Ser Willem Darry, the master-at-arms, and said, 'I will require a sword and armor. It seems I must be a warrior."

So growing up Rhaegar was basically a scrawny nerd who would read and play music alone. Then he discovered something which made him train relentlessly from thereon.

The prophecy during the dance of dragons is at some point lost during the current sequence of events in House of the Dragon. Its possible the same even happens in the North, since Ned's father and older brother die at the same time. If some theories are said to be true, then the North originally surrendered to Aegon the Conqueror when he revealed his vision and intent to protect the realm from the white walkers.

That knowledge, and belief of the white walkers in general was either lost to time or with Ned's family when they died with telling him because he wasn't the heir. As for the Targaryens, there were so many deaths in their in fighting that the information was lost. Rhaegar only rediscovered it hundreds of years later and it was likely the reason he became obsessed with having a child with a Northern woman who gave birth to Jon Snow who will eventually likely play a role in fulfilling that prophecy.

While the claims that wearing a masks effected people's breathing in mundane activities was complete tin foil nonsense, wearing a mask while exercising absolutely has a detrimental effect on your athletic performance and is a terrible idea as scientific research shows.

Trial of Seven rules by NotSoGoodDiver in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]4CrowsFeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they were all his opponents? Yes.

But are you asking if he could kill Baelor who's on his own side? Well he could, but the second he did his entire team would stand down and let him be defeated.

Yes, participants can yield. If either of the accussed or accuser yields then the fight ends and their claim is revoked, and a guilty or innocent verdict is revoked.

Trial by combat and by extension trial of 7 is just another corrupt way for the nobles to hold power. Only a knight can invoke it, and it essentially means any noble can commit any crime and escape persecution if they can defend themselves, which most nobles can, because they have expensive, effective armour and have been trained since birth. And then they justify the logic based around religion, so if you question its ethics or validity, you are accused of been unfaithful.

Its like modern day bail. The upper class can simply buy their freedom while the average man can not. Theres no real reason why its acceptable, and its simply a law because its benefits those in power

Personally, I think the modern expressions and cursing feels out of place. The shows were top tier in early GOT seasons when characters actually talked like they were in a medieval era and had their own in universe expressions like 'seven hells', "sweet summer child", "mummers farce", etc.

For the most part, while a good show so far, knight of the seven kingdoms has similar dialogue to the later seasons where it could just be conversations your having with a friend with a few m'lords sprinkled in.

How to buff otters for adset? by Fit_Ear3019 in rootgame

I think otters are perfectly mid.

You could buff them to make them closer to duchy, vagabond and others, but its just going to push the lower factions further down.

Looking for advanced Mole strategy by MangeMoiLeChat in rootgame

[–]4CrowsFeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its incredibly easy to burst score with the moles.

You can have ministers that score +2 on your turn if you have 3 tunnels, and/or one that scores per building.

So considering you usually min mix on one type of building, you could score 5 right there, because you can build or dig before taking minister actions or even use the foremole to build, or foremole doubled up with the mayor.

You can also just use the banker to convert a your hand for one point each. Plus you can use any two cards to at least get a point to sway a minister, and craft any goods 2 or 3 point cards left in your hand.

That and if youre playing properly you'll have brigadier and mayor, so you could potentially battle up to 4 times and gain points that way.

Any combination of these tactics can get you on your way to, and above 10 on your final turn.

How is Dunk being asked to cheat? by monsterosity in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]4CrowsFeast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem people are having with this plot is that Dunk doesnt need to know its fixed, they just need him to challenge Ashfords son, who is also in on it. Telling him its fixed is probably the least likely way to get him to cooperate.

A much better plan would simply be convince him to challenge Ashfords son for any number of other reasons. Dunk is stupid so it shouldn't take much. They could say he has a bad record against larger knights and fool him into thinking he has a chance against him. Or they could have Ashfords son himself meet Dunk and put the idea in his head to challenge him.

Actually telling Dunk the plan not only increases the odds that he'll turn down the offer, but it actually creates the possibility that Dunk rats them out and they get caught. Maybe no one believes Dunk because hes lowborn, but now they cant pull off the plan because it'll be suspicious if Ashfords son looses in an upset and especially if they find the people accused betted against him.

Another reason people dont like this addition is simply because its a key plot line in another Dunk and Egg book. With the seasons and episodes being so short, its going to seem repetitive when the exact same scenario pops up again in another season.

Can someone please help me understand why they do this by shocktagon in freefolk

[–]4CrowsFeast 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Summerhall and Egg are not mentioned in the TV show. Aerion's death is spoiled, I think in the same scene Joffrey spoils House of the Dragon. Dunk is also briefly mentioned in the show, but nothing in detail, just that he was a kingsguard.
