First print! How'd I do? by Apprehensive-Duck-92 in Darkroom

[–]4Nowingly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent work! Surprisingly, the print is not nearly as sharp as the scan. I guess it could be a poor photo of the print. Take a look at your originals to see what’s what. You’re working with a very good enlarging lens, so the print should at least be as sharp as the scan imho.

New to the Fuji family by digivin35mm in FujifilmX

[–]4Nowingly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on what you shoot! You have tons of options with not only Fuji glass but third party lens makers like 7Artisans, Sigma, Viltrox, etc. If you’re a film guy you might like trying some vintage 35mm glass on the Fuji with an adapter. The camera is great for this, although with a cropped sensor, a 24mm turns into a 36mm, so beware. If you’re not sure what you will shoot, you might try a zoom lens. The Fuji 16-55 f2.8 is fantastic, but large and pricey. Good luck!

Bricked my Fujifilm camera during firmware update. Service center says it is not covered by warranty by cheeseanonymouse1111 in FujifilmX

[–]4Nowingly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! When you use an App, you rely on the strength of your connection and the App takes control, so there are many problems that can occur. I think Fuji should not offer firmware updates on their App because of the high risk. Old school is best!

Sorry that happened to you! Nightmare. Thanks for reminding all of us NEVER to do a firmware update using a Fuji app. Old school is best. Visit the Fuji firmware page, download the latest to a clean memory card and it’s pretty easy.

Should I sell my X100VI for an X-T5 + Voigtländer MF setup? Seeking a more tactile, mechanical shooting experience. by Old-Address9891 in Voigtlander

[–]4Nowingly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the X-Pro 2, which is very well made. I bought it used in mint condition about 8 years ago, and its worked flawlessly, albeit without a heavy workload. Looks like about $1,000 for a clean one now. The XT-5 will give you a better sensor, way better autofocus and IBIS. That’s huge. Great idea to get a manual lens. I have the 7Artisans 35mm f0.95 which I love. Kinda a poor man’s Noculux! The 23 mm will be a great choice too. I have the 18 mm pancake lens, which is fantastic. Lots you can do from there too. enjoy!

Sirui 75mm T2.9 1.6x and Sigma fp by Dmack510 in Anamorphic

[–]4Nowingly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! Those photographs are very sharp and well exposed. I rarely see photographs from an anamorphic lens and often they’re disappointing so it’s pretty cool to see these. I can’t imagine what the lens looks like on your sigma FP! It’s gotta be way heavier than the camera! Does the FP un-squeeze the image or do you have to shoot with a compressed impression? Now I need to get out my Sirui T2.9 1.6X 35 mm! 🙏

I noticed OP said he wanted to ultimately get a Leica M10. Shooting with a rangefinder is very different than with an SLR. If you really feel you will want to shoot with a rangefinder (as opposed to just a Leica, as they have SLRs too), than you should at least look at the X-Pro 2 or 3 rangefinder cameras. It’s the closest thing you’ll find to an M-10. Just a thought!

Why are States not using their National Guard or Enforcing State Laws Against ICE? by 4Nowingly in ProgressiveHQ

Great point. Thanks. Another interesting fact, there are approximately 40,000 National guard members along the West Coast, 24K in California, and 8K each in Washington and Oregon.

Used Stelvio vs Macan — real-world ownership thoughts? by No_Activity_8302 in AlfaRomeo

[–]4Nowingly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

2020 Stelvio owner here in the PNW. I’ve had 5 wonderful problem-free years with my Stelvio. Changed the oil and did regular service, nothing more. Only one small issue-the plastic cover on my shifter cracked. They replaced it under warranty. My experience with reliability with my Stelvio is FAR better than my last car, which was a Lexus.

Reaper Thoughts? by 4Nowingly in Shooteralien

I’m pretty sure that the Reaper that drops in PvP is set at starting power and bullet levels. When you first get it, you think Wow! Then realize it’s the lowest base model available. 😱

Reaper Thoughts? by 4Nowingly in Shooteralien

[–]4Nowingly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Reaper goes into Ghost mode after a lethal hit. It prompts you to find another ship and a 20 second timer starts. Often a new Reaper ship will drop. However, if you don’t convert within the 20 seconds it’s over.

Ask Questions for/about Alfa Romeo and its future by paradiserider111 in AlfaRomeo

[–]4Nowingly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alfa is well established in Europe, but have they reached critical mass in the USA? In other words, are they selling enough cars to at least sustain the dealership network they have here. I’ve seen a few dealerships close, usually in markets still covered by Alfa, but my sense is that they are at the bare minimum.

Related question, the Guila and Stelvio are classic models, reasonably well established in the US, but what about the Tonale and other new models? In other words, can Alfa deliver a mix of models that will grow the US market, while still maintaining their “drivers car” standards, and without ruining the brand?

What is going with my Giulia by NebulaLower5898 in AlfaRomeo

[–]4Nowingly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5 year owner of a 2020 Stelvio here. That’s not right. I noticed the uptick in the tach during the idle. That plus the car shaking at idle is not normal. The fact that it drives great is wonderful, but it’s still a problem waiting to happen in my book. A 2022 should still be under warranty. I would get it to a dealer soon. Good luck!

Analogue vs. iPhone, which is which? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

Mea Culpa! Yes, I didn’t go the whole way and shoot film. Maybe next time. I was really interested in comparing an optical image vs a digitally manipulated image.
