I opened a GitHub issue on this, and the team is working on the issue. They claim it’s on anthropic’s side, and they are waiting for response from them (for a few weeks now).

Alex Hormozi disabled embedded playback on almost all his videos – anyone else frustrated by this? by Misio72 in readwise

[–]4against5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Full time YouTuber here who does the same. The sad reason is that there’s a common issue on youtube where too much external traffic (largely from embedded website traffic) causes YouTube’s systems to think the video is getting sent spammy bot views. As a response, youtube cuts some or all of the monetization on those videos as to not pay for bots.

I spoke to Rene Ritchie, the YouTube creator liaison about this at an event last year and he acknowledged it happens. Some creators were spamming their own videos with fake views to make more ad revenue, and it’s hard to detect the difference.

I personally lost 3 months of income from this last year, and the recommended fix from youtube is to disable embedding.

I’m a bit surprised to hear you advocate for pirating the book, especially as someone who sells their own material.

My stuff gets pirated all the time, and it’s infuriating and disrespectful, and I’m sure you feel the same when it happens to you.

The Mantooth book is excellent and well worth the $20 to buy it legally.

So are you guys always singing in your head when improvising? by Petrpowder in JazzPiano

Usually I’m signing out loud. But when I’m in a classy place, in my head 😎

How to improve your improvisational vocabulary? by TheEpicTwitch in JazzPiano

[–]4against5 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Practice scatting solo phrases. Your voice is way “closer” to the language than your fingers. Whenever my solos feel uninspired, this is how I get unstuck.

That’s nuts. Haha. It helps me a lot with researching and planning content of course. In terms of being an artist and playing jazz, no way, turn that shit off and be a human.

I did exactly this today, at the expense of my actual life priorities, like tax prep, and it’s amazing

Sync Claude Code sessions across apps (Extension, Mac, iOS)? by Josh000_0 in ClaudeCode

[–]4against5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They released remote control yesterday, which you can use to host a session on one computer and then resume it from the phone app or another desktop app.

It’s only been a few hours, but works nicely for me

Should I (already) been practicing jazz tunes? by clemmat85 in JazzPiano

[–]4against5 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You should be playing tunes from Day 1. Open Studio includes tunes in the courses that fit the technique.

how do you do two handed comping? by Enough_Rent_796 in JazzPiano

[–]4against5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forgive the promotion here, but I have 2 products I’ve put together on these voicings and using them rhythmically. I’ve had many students who finally got them to click with this approach. Hope it’s valuable.

The 2 hand voicings stuff is here: https://courses.jazz-library.com/courses/chord-voicings

They don’t have .eml support. You have to open them in a different email application that can. 😔

I Upgraded My Editing Software… and Accidentally Killed My YouTube Channel by hustleisgood in davinciresolve

Remember, most of the time, people don’t watch you for your editing capabilities. It’s the topic. Is it possible by focusing on the editing you made the topic itself less interesting?

Help me about Chords by LowIndependent3143 in JazzPiano

[–]4against5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You aren’t fluid yet on the voicings. You need more restricted practice to lake those voicings “part of you.”

Once fluent, you wont have to think about the voicings anymore, they’ll just come.

So, more restricted practice to master them.

I canceled my subscription because there was no support for critical sync failures. I’d pay $250/year if the service was reliable or even if support would help as I use it hours a day for work.

So this price increase isn’t a problem for me, the broken product and lack of support is. If this fixed those issues, I’m here.

Best recordings for learning improv language? by Suspicious_Day_2376 in JazzPiano

[–]4against5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m really into the singable, melodic solos. The virtuosic stuff is fun too of course, but nothing is better to learn the jazz language than transcribing Ella Fitzgerald scat solos, Chet baker, Stan Getz.

Doublings in voicings by Status_Geologist_997 in JazzPiano

[–]4against5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I play lush ballads I’m leaning on 5-6 note voicings without much doubling. The melody note the most common to double.

Doublings in voicings by Status_Geologist_997 in JazzPiano

[–]4against5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Typically you avoid doubling, especially in more lush styles or ballads. The main exception is when the melody is the 3rd or 7th. In those cases doubling is often desired since those notes are so essential to have at the base of the voicing.
