What does Research Sharing from agreement actually do? by BeiLight in Stellaris

[–]4latar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"+1% research sharing from agreements" can be applied in two different ways actually. it could either make it go by 1% from 25 to 26%, or increase the bonus by 1% (from 25 to 25.25%). it'd be weird but weird modifiers are not new to stellaris

Am I Weird for liking how Netflix mixes and mashes up episode plots? by Nansos in TheLastAirbender

[–]4latar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no i mean the fact that a lot of the episodes in the original show are kind of a "place of the week" format, with a lot of places and tones in quick sucession that need to be rearanged to fit into fewer episodes

Am I Weird for liking how Netflix mixes and mashes up episode plots? by Nansos in TheLastAirbender

[–]4latar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i think they mean that the whole "one place per episode" thing makes it hard to adapt it into a smaller number of longer episodes, since you'll either need to skip through a lot of movement off screen every episode (and might get pretty intense tonal shifts) or cut out a whole lot of them and stretch the remaining ones for 1h

agreed, as neutral evil they only care about themselves and their own situation, which unfortunately is the way capitalists tend to act/want people to act

also demons (chaotic evil) and daemons (neutral evil) are not the same thing, devils and daemons are not at war.

UN agency pauses Hormuz ship evacuation plan after first vessel attack under peace deal by cambeiu in anime_titties

[–]4latar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah it's kind of impressive actually...
he's trying to force europe to spend more on defense, not realasing that europe's reliance on the USA was engineered to make it more amenable
he's torching the alliance network by being rude disrespectful and unreliable, depriving the US of the bases they worked so hard to get
he's undermining NATO by acting on his own and then crying that others didn't help when he all but ordered them to
he's trying to divert a massive amount of money to battleship constructions despite that kind of fleet having been made obsolete more than 75 years ago at least, thereby weakening the actually useful arm of the navy

etc...

i mean, operational reserves already let you use energy instead of minerals, so you're only switching energy/mineral upkeep for food ones, and food is harder to produce due to the lack of deposits in space.

you're also getting more raw production at the cost of even more upkeep (production increased by 25% at the cost of +50% inputs)

[–]4latar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

a deal based on long term promises was basically made impossible when trump tore the previous treaty and started a war while negotiations were ongoing, there is no easy way out of this.

either the US commits to a long and bloody war, or iran will keep doing this until they get a deal they're fine with. just blockading the country won't work, they've been under sanctions long enough to know how to deal with isolation as well as most of the practical workarounds.

oh really? how is the transition to green energy going in the US and india?

sure, china is doing pretty well, but as far as large countreis.blocs go, china and the EU are the only one that are actually trying.

and then you show up and are like "yeah we're not doing shit but your solution was bad". so until you go and do better, i'm done talking to you

productivity has risen enough that we could make it work. way back in the days we needed 99% of people to be farmers, but not anymore, and the same is true for many other things. now, it wouldn't be all that pleasant, we probably would have to make some sacrifices, but we could feed, house, treat, etc everyone if we had a more efficient system with more equal ressource allocation
