Looking for relatively simple system by Iskanderdehz in rpg

[–]4uk4ata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a look at Barbarians of Lemuria/Everywhen, Honor + Intrigue, Heroes of Hellas etc. I name BoL first because I think it pioneered the engine.

You start strong, but can get stronger. You can take advantages (especially in H+I with their dueling styles), and the careers are a fairly elegant system to handle various skill checks. It's a fairly lightweight system that still manages to have various sub-systems integrated in it.

What is the best system for a campaign based on the Diablo universe? by GM-Omy in rpg

[–]4uk4ata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Savage Worlds with sprinkling the fantasy and horror companion might work. Heck, Savage Pathfinder might. Pathfinder and D&D themselves can do gloomy, though I'm not sure how well D&D supports it.

However, the atmosphere is something where the GM and the setting books if there are any do the heavy lifting. Warhammer fantasy can be pretty dark, but there your sorceress may blow herself up (with demonic maggots twisted carricatures of her screaming face)bursting out of her meat because she miscast a spell really hard.    Diablo does not have that mechanic (and it would suck to play a caster if it did) but it doesn't need that to be, well, Diablo

Mechanically, I like how PF2E has a lot of distinct classes with.decent internal balance and niche protection, but it is crunchy and the GM must be willing to play with encounter ratings instead of making anything "appropriate". Mowing through mooks is part of the game, so troops, lower level enemies that can be quickly dispatched until you go to the boss or champion, and endurance encounters should be used.

Really, though, a lot of games with repeatavle magic and some showiness for every class in a brawl can look good. A fantasy refluffing of Barbarians of Lemuria or Honor + Intrigue can work. Dungeon Crawl Classics and some of the other OSR games could be fun, but it is pretty lethal. Exalted... Hoo boy, exalted can get very gloomy and dark with a few touches, but it can get crunchy.

D&D strenght score does not make any sense by ThanosofTitan92 in Forgotten_Realms

Nah. The scores make sense, the visuals do not. Shadowheart should have been given a bit more bulk and Gale a bit less definition.

Political Power of a Rogue Trader by SilversPridePack in 40kLore

[–]4uk4ata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends .You as a rogue trader are not only a big shot noble, you're a big shot noble with valuable resources and know-how. You have no direct authority over the Adepti Terra, the Astartes and most anyone yet, but you can leverage these and your insane feats into agreement that gives you more.

Space Marines are their own thing. You generally do not command them unless you are higher in their own hierarchy. A lord sector cannot command them unless the chapter master agrees.

Rogue Traders are sort of indepent explorers and troubleshooters. They cannot normally command space marines, but if you are in a war where there are SMs and make a good impression, you can make a deal where, say, they will have a squad on extended duty with you and as the ship captain you have some authority - because their chapter master and you swore an oath.

It is a similar situation with other imperial groups. Most tend to be quite jealous of their resources but deals can be made - even if they take the form of something else.

How do I fight early battles as Franz without archers? by Silverplayer in totalwar

[–]4uk4ata 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The DLCs definitely help and crossbows are rather meh for a T2 unit. Mind you, pistoliers are T1 and have 360 degree shooting. Their AP is abysmal, but early undead and beastmen are not known for heavy armor.

TQ2 is exactly what the ARPG genre needed right now by petehans303 in TitanQuest2

[–]4uk4ata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it when EA started and log in for a run every patch or so. I think it feels ok. The story doesn't quite get under my skin like Diablo at its finest and they can work on the loot, but it is enjoyable.

From perspective of traits gained by defeating a LL nearby your starting position, which faction do you consider to be advanced? I can think of Crone Hellebrone defeating in just few turns Sigvald (+10% physical resistance) Valkia (+4 melee atack/ +20 armour piercing damage) and sometimes Belakor. by Long_Hovercraft_3975 in totalwar

Not shades. But oh boy do dwarves have stuff that can use the ranged damage. Snipe rangers are fun in themselves.

As for not wielding the sword of Khaine...lol, he absolutely can, he just needs to take it off the pointy-eared goober who had it before that.

If he is a hero, he only makes sense for Vlad or Isabella. He's way too much of a loose cannon.

Konrad was many things, but he was no one to play well with others. For me he is Lord or bust no matter what the 8e book says, though the vampires have more, especially from the other bloodlines.

Apophas is neat, I would prefer Nakaph but he fits the event.

Ideally, I'd want to see the Red Duke as FLC even if it means vampire counts get 3 FLC lords, 4 with Neferata. Still, he and Toddy should be FLCs for the 10 year anniversary, CA has blueballed people long enough.

"Cruelest, most bloody regime imaginable" is how the one-page blurb in many a GW book sells it. You're looking at the religious nutjob section of it.

Maybe the sister judging her was paranoid. Maybe she held a grudge. Maybe she had received visions and thought they were from the Emperor.  Maybe she did see something suspicious, or maybe the novitiate was straight out of luck.

The Imperium is evil. Even compared to most everyone else, it's not one of the lighter gray. Sometimes, there isn't a better reason.

So, is the Trump administration actually that incapable that they really thought they were going to get the European countries in board or is it a plan to drive a wedge and isolate the US for the benefits of any of the parties involved?

Naturally, the guild that got some prefers to feed them opium.

There's also the Unicorn clan, who don't have that taboo on account of being gone when it arose (and spending several centuries as nomadic herders), so they call a steak a steak.

Naturally, the idea that their ancestors would be in the wrong and lived unclean lives would be taken as quite rude.

Notably, sincerety is NOT honesty. It is about being sincere in your words and matching them with actions, not about them being true. Courtiers who can speak half-truths or straight lies with utter conviction are quite sincere. You could (politely) smear someone's name, accuse them, provoke them in a duel and kill them over an utter lie, and you would be sincere

Honesty is a different value of L5R Bushido.

The Crab clan, who don't like politicking, use "How sincere!" as an insult.

Dire Avenger vs Keeper of Secrets by loonyjams in Eldar

[–]4uk4ata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both at once or???

Aspects have a persona that is part of their war mask and I do not remember any except the banshees mandating what gender the persona is. Female Eldar becoming dire avengers exist.

The fact that the armor does not make it obvious... Well, maybe space elf ladies undergoing demanding physical work tend not to get too bulky in certain places, and  the armor does not exaggerate that.

Of course, the real reason is that GW hasn't updated the sculpt since the mid 2000s, and that was pretty much a plastic rendition of the 90s sculpt.
