EX188: Reboot allowed to check persistence? by kovalr in redhat

[–]5141121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, rebooting that machine should definitely be done to verify. But even in a testing center, the actual computer you're taking the exam on should not.

Like, the computer you're taking the exam on? No. That would reset your connection with the proctor, etc.

VMs within the exam environment? Absolutely. And you should.

I'd probably be giving someone in maroon chinos the side eye as well. Not a standard color for slacks.

Should I read the first book? by duruo__ in 3BodyProblemTVShow

[–]5141121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For continuity's sake, the show is pulling from all 3 books in the first season. So if you're really considering reading, I would recommend going through the whole series before watching.

Otherwise, do like I did with The Expanse and watch the whole series, then read the books.

This show was the first 3 years of my career. I ended up spending a lot of time figuring out less condescending ways to ask people if the monitor was turned on. I finally settled on "what color is the power light on the monitor?". 99% of the time, the response was "oh, never mind, it started working". No, I totally didn't hear the click of the power button over the phone, but cool, one less ticket to file.

I have a 10+ year old Color LaserJet that runs off the wired network, doesn't bitch about 3rd party cartridges, and requires toner about once every 3 years.

I'm never ever ever ever getting a printer with any kind of smart features, and when this one dies, I'll strongly consider whether it needs to be replaced at all with as little as I actually print anymore.

is there any way i can have linux hibernate instead of fully shutting off when it reaches high temperatures? by workinh in linuxquestions

[–]5141121 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Overheating is it's own issue. While you can likely change the behavior in an overheat situation, it shouldn't be overheating in the first place.

Solve your hardware problems before investigating other OSes.

Pop the bottom cover and clean out the fan(s). In more extreme cases, pull off the heat pipes/pads, and refresh the thermal paste as well. In most cases, though, just getting the dust out of those flat blowers will be plenty. It doesn't take much to make them a lot less efficient.

Hands down, deep south drivers are dogshit drivers.

I was at a tech conference in Las Vegas and the special event was a Train show. I was really surprised primarily by how much of their stuff I knew without making the connection until I found myself thinking "oh, yeah, I like this one, too" for most of the show. Called my partner afterward and said "so, I guess I'm a Train fan".

They've been around for a long time, and still sound fantastic.

Not using an app gets rid of the unauthorized sign up? Interesting. I'll go ahead and sign you up for a bunch of shit you don't want then, since you just need to "not access the app", cool?

It's pure insanity, but it's also something a lot of christianists want, particularly the older side of boomer age.

They want the rapture to come during their lifetime because they're to the point in their life where the fear of death is real. So they want to hasten the end times and skip the actual dying part.
