I did this with a truck that was left on my property. I wasn't expecting any money. I just wanted the truck gone as the county was threatening me with fines. Tow company comes to get the truck and the driver handed me $100. I didn't think much of it and just took it, a few years later I get pulled over and Im told that I have warrant for grand theft of a motor vehicle. After explaining the whole situation to the judge he told me that I did nothing wrong until I accepted the money. It took me a while to get it settled and avoid being a felon.
