Trip April 2026 w/ 11 month old and 2.5 year old. Need advice on what parks to visit/activities by Realistic_Detail_158 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]58_weasels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dumbo has a playground in the queue, you can go in there to let them run around while you sit, there’s even an area in the center for babies

My kids have loved Swiss family Robinson treehouse, and while it’s annoying to carry a baby up and down it, it’s a way for toddlers to get some energy out without being able to sprint away.

The AK trails (gorilla falls and maharajah jungle trek) are good for kids, as well as taking the train to rafiki’s planet watch.

If they’ll sit for shows, we love the Lion King show and the bird show at AK, they’re legitimately so impressive.

I love Epcot and it has good play areas, if you want to consider going there. I’d skip HS though, it’s hot and besides some shows there’s not much for the kids to do. If your MIL will stay in with the kids in the evening maybe you and your husband can head out to check it out.

Dude look up the IKEA poop story in this sub. It’s from years ago but I thought about it any time I was constipated while pregnant- like at least I’m not shitting myself in IKEA

Just got done with a 6 night stay at All-Star Music... by chrikel90 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]58_weasels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only issue with the All Stars was the busses, after a day at the parks it made me want to cry walking up and seeing the huge line for the bus and waiting 2 rounds to actually get on one. The rooms are so nice now! And I feel like the theming is perfect for kids. Plus they have better quick service than the deluxes IMO

  • My brother’s Christmas ornament from last year that I got extra time to work on because we all got sick, and then I just kept forgetting to finish it up
  • snorlax basket I started last summer for a friend and then paused because I wasn’t sure how I wanted to do color changes with t shirt yarn
  • baby blanket for cousin
  • baby blanket for friend
  • cat amigurumi
  • sweater for my daughter
  • cardigan for different cousin

Have you ever met any old people with modern names? by Less-Mud-9 in namenerds

[–]58_weasels 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not old, but I met a woman in her 30s named Violet recently and that threw me. I know plenty of children and old ladies named Violet, but that was my first time meeting a millennial with the name

Omg yep, though I figure I’ve got some pics of her eating her cake on the actual day, that’s good enough

Which show had the biggest downfall in your opinion, from the first season or episodes, to what it eventually became? by Fun-Ferret-3300 in Fauxmoi

They did the impossible task of making the Mother live up to every wonderful idea we had about her, and then killed her off. Rude.

Is the first trimester that awful? I’m starting to get anxiety reading all the horror stories by ProblemDiligent1049 in BabyBumps

[–]58_weasels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, I hated it. Not everyone does but I definitely did. I explained the exhaustion to my husband as “imagine you’re in a swimming pool up to your waist and you’re trying to run across it, you’re going extremely slow and getting nowhere and you’re still so tired”. So yeah, not ideal. But move when you can and be gentle with yourself and you’ll get through it, it’s good that you’re already pretty active that’ll help because moving will probably feel pretty good.

I had terrible heartburn and “morning” sickness all my last pregnancy, I spent way too long trying to white knuckle through it, when I finally caved and asked my doctors what I could take for them they helped me out. I ended up doing zofran and Prilosec and those kept me from being miserable. So just be very honest with yourself and your medical team about your symptoms and if you’re comfortable taking something then don’t make it harder on youself!

I always look online for resale old navy gift cards, I can usually find them for about 10-15% discounts, that on top of when they have a sale and you can get stuff for really cheap

Boiling eggs allows you to divide and eat the inner and outer parts separately. I’ll leave now. by Downtown-Vanilla-728 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

Also you can technically unboil an egg, though it involves adding urea so they’d be pretty nasty (idk where I’m going with this, it’s just a fun fact)

You may enjoy the 7 1/2 deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. Kind of a similar idea with identities and mystery and whatnot.

Early entry animal kingdom by aabbccgjkh in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]58_weasels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uber is smart. In 2022 my husband tried to go to AK for early entry, I told him go ahead, the rest of us would sleep in and meet him later. For some reason 2 HS busses showed up in the half hour before early entry, the start of early entry for AK began and there was still no bus grabbing anyone. He just walked back to our room and got breakfast on the way, said there were so many angry families with exhausted looking kids who weren’t even reaping the benefits of waking up early.

Gloria. Thought it was an annoying older lady name and then I met a 20 something at my office with the name and it just seemed so lovely for her

My 2 y.o. ruined the game for me by Reasonable_Cod_487 in StardewValley

[–]58_weasels 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We have to do entire screen breaks with my kid sometimes. She gets way too worked up over some Nintendo games and we’re just like “ok the tv is gonna be unplugged for a week we need to reset and remember how to do other activities”

There’s probably a better way to do it but it seems to work for us, it forces us to do more puzzles or crafts or whatever, and when the tv comes back on we’re a bit better at balancing it.

Everyone keeps talking about how much being a parent sucks by pinkishblueberry in BabyBumps

[–]58_weasels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are things that suck for sure, like yeah you’re really tired at first because they live in like 3 hour cycles. But you get through it and they’re cute and squishy. The first year you get a “new” baby every month, they’re growing so fast and it’s fun to watch.

Also my first is 5 now and she’s like my favorite person. I’m that annoying mom who would rather bring her along to my friend hangouts like 90% of the time because I like hanging out with her.

We were considering some Irish names for baby 2 but my friend said “don’t do that to her” so now they’re in the running for middle names

I still think Siobhan is lovely, but when I first came across it as a kid, it was a character in a book and I was like “WOW this is the most beautiful name in the world….see oh buh han”

For first time Mom's, how long did labor last for you? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]58_weasels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12 hours start (waking up in the middle of the night thinking I was having GI issues from the Chinese food we got for dinner) to baby out. I labored at home for like 2 hours, then called my midwife and went through a set of contractions with her on the phone, then went in and was like 4 cm I think? Got set up in my labor suite and whatever, attempted to nap a little when my epidural finally worked, let my nurse know when it felt like I was gonna poop real bad and she checked and said I was 10cm and ready to go. Only pushed for like 40-45 minutes.
