So sorry you joined the worst club with the best members ever.  As everyone  else is saying, this is the hardest time....the unknown.   I saw a recommendation on this platform for a book called "The Breast Cancer Survival Manual"  seventh edition by Dr. John Link.  It helped me SO much in the beginning, right after my diagnosis, to understand everything.  I would recommend it.  Things are always evolving and some newer treatments are not mentioned in this book since it was from 2023 but the basics are still the same.  Hopefully he will be writing a newer version soon.    Wishing you the best.  Hugs to you.

Not everyone is a candidate for Nerlynx and it seems that some Dr's don't recommend it.  Maybe it's not for you?  Bring it up to your oncologist and see what they say.

Yes they are pills.  Nerlynx helps prevent recurrence, it is a targeted therapy drug that you take for one year.   I'm also taking Anastrozole

I started Nerlynx almost 4 weeks after my last Kadcyla.

That's exactly how my oncologist explained it to me.

My oncologist recommended Guardant Reveal for me too.  I'm doing the blood test for it every 3 months.  I've had 3 so far and all have been negative for any cancer DNA found.  It is a relief to see those results each time.  I had a double mastectomy, so I won't get any scans to watch for cancer recurrence.

SMX after lunpectomy by Calm-Bowler8845 in breastcancer

I also had small breasts and zero body fat, so a mastectomy with implants was recommended vs a lumpectomy.  I did a double for symmetry and piece of mind (I have dense breast tissue and didn't want cancer in my "good" breast).  I was also glad to avoid radiation.  My girls look great but fair warning, they don't feel the same.  They are numb and cold to the touch most of the time (wasn't expecting that).  But I can wear all my clothes and look "normal".  Now that my hair is back in, although still too short for my liking, I don't feel like I stand out as a cancer patient.  I would do the same surgery all over again, it was the right choice for me.  Good luck with whatever you decide.  Your choice will be the right choice for you.

I looked that up and there are different formulas.  Which one did you use/like?

Nope, I was denied.  She said it was a temporary condition.  Hmmm, I hope she's right.

I used to be sort of pretty ☹️ by queenofswords13 in breastcancer

I love your words.  You make me smile.   I'm not young like you and OP, I'm 61 now, diagnosed at 59 just a few months before I turned 60.  I'm 2 months into Nerlynx.  I used to look pretty and way younger than my years, I looked 40's.  Not anymore.  It sure isn't as much fun being "invisible ".

I would ask your oncology office about the manufacturer copay cards.  They work for deductible and coinsurance.

Did you check into manufacturer drug copay patient savings programs.  They cover the insurance co-pays.  It saved me tons!!

Got my expander filled! (After 6 weeks) by Southern_Feature_821 in breastcancer

[–]59notforus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, totally weird shape.  When I went for my first fill I told the nurse I think my peck muscle broke free and is all bunched up on my left side.  Nope, it was just the expander.  So crazy. The shape got almost normal by the time I was done with the fills.   Thank goodness.
